BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao said the panchayat results marked the beginning of the Congress collapse. Although Congress tried to control the situation, people rejected its style of governance. He noted that BRS supporters won many seats despite strong resistance from ruling party leaders. Moreover, he appreciated workers who stood firm against alleged attacks.

KTR said the Chief Minister’s tours failed to influence voters. Instead, rural voters showed clear anger at the government. He pointed out that Congress could not cross even 44 percent of the seats it contested. Therefore, he argued that the results proved people were unhappy with Revanth Reddy’s administration. He added that the BJP still lacked real strength in Telangana, while BRS remained the main alternative.

He further said villagers realised that development had stalled under Congress rule. Many candidates of the ruling party lost by narrow margins, and that, according to him, reflected public frustration. Additionally, he stated that villagers expected better progress but saw no improvement during the last two years. Consequently, the ruling party faced a setback in rural regions.

KTR said voters remembered the unfulfilled guarantees. Farmers, he noted, struggled with urea shortages and low crop prices. Pension delays, Mahalakshmi issues, and bonus promises also created distrust. Ultimately, he said these problems pushed rural voters toward BRS.

Heavy rains across Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district have caused severe distress among residents, especially farmers. With crops ready for harvest, the unexpected downpour has left them in despair. Farmers say that months of hard work have gone to waste as their fields are now submerged.

In Kulluru and Venkatreddypalli villages of Kaluvayi mandal, around 400 acres of paddy fields have been completely flooded. Farmers watched helplessly as their nearly harvested paddy crops drowned in rainwater. The continuous flow of floodwater over the fields has damaged the crops beyond recovery.

Paddy spikes have begun to sprout due to prolonged submersion, deepening the farmers’ anguish. They lament that the harvest they were waiting for has turned into a heartbreaking loss. Many expressed fears that without immediate government support, they may not recover financially from this devastation.

Farmers have urged the government to act swiftly and provide compensation for the crop loss. They warned that if help does not reach them soon, extreme distress may drive some to consider suicide. The community hopes for urgent relief measures to prevent further tragedy.

A 25-year-old farmer from Ahli Kalan village in Sultanpur Lodhi’s flood-affected Mand area attempted suicide after mounting debt and crop destruction pushed him into despair. The farmer, identified as Arshdeep Singh, had leased additional land to expand cultivation, but floods ravaged the entire 16 acres of paddy on September 10.

Arshdeep is currently under treatment in a hospital after consuming poison. His family revealed that they own 10 acres and had leased 6 more at an annual rent of nearly ₹60,000 per acre. The losses left him distressed about how to repay the loan, which reportedly ran into several lakhs. His mother, Ranjit Kaur, said he had withdrawn from daily life, refusing to eat or speak. “We told him many farmers were also suffering, but he took it to heart,” she said.

Another farmer from the village, Saminder Singh, added that Arshdeep’s family had suffered similar damage during the 2023 floods, but this time, the young farmer could not endure the burden. Fortunately, he is now reported to be out of danger.

This case highlights the ongoing crisis of flood-hit Punjab farmers, where repeated crop losses, high lease rents, and increasing debt are pushing many into extreme distress.

Taking to social media, Harish Rao alleged that nearly every sector has been shut down due to mismanagement and lack of funds.

He pointed out that Aarogyasri services have been suspended in private hospitals, fee reimbursement delays have forced colleges to shut down, and students remain deprived of unemployment allowance and job notifications.

Harish Rao further stated that even sanitation in villages has been halted due to non-payment of bills , while farmers are facing a double crisis with stalled loan waivers, crop bonuses, and shortages of urea . He said 22 months of Congress rule have resulted in “welfare bandh, development bandh, and governance bandh.” Declaring Revanth Reddy’s leadership “inefficient and reckless,” Harish Rao predicted that the public is ready to teach Congress a strong lesson in the upcoming elections.

Despite investing heavily in cultivation and surviving pest attacks, growers are unable to recover even transportation costs.

In Madanapalle market, the price of tomatoes has plunged to just ₹5 per kilogram, leaving farmers shocked. The situation is worse in Pattikonda, Kurnool district, where prices have dropped below ₹2 per kilogram, causing heavy losses. Farmers complain that they cannot even cover their transport expenses at these rates.

Two days ago, Pyapili market in Nandyal district witnessed a similar trend. First-grade tomatoes were sold at ₹10 per kilogram, while medium-grade tomatoes fetched only ₹3. With prices falling sharply, farmers say their hard work and investment have gone in vain.

Many cultivators expressed fear of mounting debts, urging the state government to step in immediately. They appealed for financial support and price stabilization measures to safeguard their livelihood.

Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has strongly criticized the central government for alleged discrimination in fertilizer supply, causing distress among farmers. Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, he stated that the shortage of urea has left farmers struggling and accused the central authorities of having complete control over fertilizer production and distribution.

Prabhakar alleged that the BRS and BJP are conspiring to create unrest among farmers and turn them against the state government. He emphasized that the fertilizer issue in Telangana is real, with local production at Ramagundam plants stalled for four months intentionally, and only a fraction of the required 11 lakh tonnes—5.2 lakh tonnes—has been supplied.

Highlighting the hardships faced by farmers at the grassroots level, he urged the state government to act responsibly, provide support, and not let political rivalries affect agricultural welfare. He warned that farmers would pressure BRS members if necessary to address the urea shortage.

In response, Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageshwar Rao is scheduled to meet Union Minister for Fertilizers and Chemicals JP Nadda in Delhi today . The meeting aims to request the supply of an additional 60,000 metric tonnes of urea to Telangana over the next ten days.

Recent shipments have already begun arriving: 9,000 metric tonnes reached the state on Monday night , followed by 5,000 metric tonnes on Tuesday . Officials confirmed that a total of 27,000 metric tonnes will be supplied in the coming week . Minister Thummala has instructed the state agriculture department to ensure uninterrupted urea availability, preventing further hardship for farmers engaged in crucial agricultural activities.
