The Centre has reassured farmers about fertilizer stocks for Kharif season, saying there will be no shortage during the upcoming sowing period. Officials said the government has built sufficient reserves and planned supplies to meet the seasonal demand across the country.

According to the Department of Fertilizers, the fertilizer stocks for Kharif season are currently strong and well managed. The government has asked farmers not to panic buy or store excess fertilizer, as supplies will reach every state and district based on demand.

Authorities said domestic production and imports continue to strengthen availability. India currently holds fertilizer stocks covering more than 51% of the expected seasonal demand. Officials say this level is higher than the usual buffer stock required for the season.

The government also confirmed that prices of major fertilizers, including urea and other nutrient-based fertilizers, will remain stable. Officials are monitoring distribution closely and working with state governments to ensure farmers receive fertilizers on time and at the correct price.

Bihar farmers are struggling to get fertilizers due to Bihar fertilizer shortage allegations. Opposition parties say black marketing and price hikes are making it harder for farmers to access essential supplies. CPI state secretary Ram Naresh Pandey highlighted that DAP priced at ₹1,350 is selling for ₹1,800–₹1,900, and urea meant for ₹266 is being sold at ₹300–₹400.

Earlier, RJD accused traders of smuggling fertilizers to Nepal, blaming government officials for inaction. The state Agriculture Department says it has taken strong measures, canceling 83 fertilizer licenses and filing FIRs against illegal dealers.

CPI leaders also allege that the central government lowered fertilizer targets for Bihar, worsening the shortage. Farmers fear delayed or insufficient supply ahead of the Rabi sowing season.

Agriculture Minister Ramkripal Yadav rejected opposition claims and challenged them to provide evidence. Meanwhile, farmers continue to demand better monitoring and timely distribution of fertilizers.

He pointed out that while the government sells urea at Rs. 260 per bag, it is being sold for Rs. 400 in the black market.

Despite the central government offering subsidies between Rs. 2200 and Rs. 2400 on urea, Kishan Reddy questioned how this price discrepancy occurred and demanded an explanation from the Congress party.

Reddy emphasized that the government needs to ensure the proper distribution of fertilizers to avoid shortages. He also called for measures to ensure that every bag of urea reaches farmers without issues.

Additionally, Reddy criticized the Congress government for permitting illegal practices in the market. He highlighted that contractors have failed to settle their bills, causing delays in work and adding to the difficulties faced by farmers.

In response to the arrests of BJP leaders during a protest outside the Secretariat, Reddy expressed his anger. He urged the Congress government to take responsibility for the worsening situation and address the grievances of farmers.
