]]> Farmers in Andhra Pradesh are facing another challenge. After weeks of rain, a new cyclone threat has emerged. The Meteorological Department said a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal may soon turn into a cyclone. The system is now over the southeast Bay and moving northwest, according to the APSDMA.

Officials said it could grow stronger by Sunday. By Monday, the weather system may form into a cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay. The storm is expected to hit the coast between October 28 and 29. Heavy rains may lash Konaseema, Krishna, and Bapatla districts on Saturday. Moderate to heavy rain is likely in Prakasam, Nellore, and Tirupati. Light showers may occur in other districts.

APSDMA chief Prakhant Jain asked people to stay alert and avoid travel during rain. Fishermen have been warned not to go into the sea for the next few days.

The IMD named the cyclone ‘Monta’. Tamil Nadu is already seeing heavy rain. Chennai and Tiruvallur faced waterlogging after downpours. The state issued an orange alert for seven districts for the next 48 hours.
