The letters accused the interim administration of postponing elections and banning the Awami League, denying citizens their voting rights. The community stated that free and fair elections are impossible under such repression. It also claimed that hundreds of Awami League members were detained and more than 200 supporters killed.

The diaspora highlighted widespread violence, including over 600 lynchings and 2,500 torture cases, many targeting minorities. Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians reportedly face religious persecution from extremist groups. The letter also alleged show trials against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and suspension of journalists’ press accreditations.

Expressing concern, the diaspora criticized the European Parliament’s recent praise of the interim regime. They urged the international community to challenge the narrative that shields undemocratic rule. The letters called for global attention to Bangladesh’s human rights violations and suppression of political freedom.
