In a major relief for educators, mass transfers for government teachers will take place in June after the Bihar cabinet approved a revised policy. The decision on mass transfers for government teachers aims to make the process transparent and help teachers seek postings closer to their preferred locations.

The new transfer policy will come into effect from April. Education department officials are now preparing detailed guidelines to ensure smooth implementation before June.

Around six lakh teachers across the state will benefit from the updated rules. Earlier, the draft policy proposed a five-year restriction on transfers after appointment. However, teacher associations raised objections. The government is now likely to reduce this period to three years, with special provisions for medical and compassionate grounds.

District and divisional committees will review applications and recommend eligible cases. The government expects the new system to reduce disputes and improve staff distribution in schools.
