Hyderabad: MLC K. Kavitha announced that Telangana Jagruthi fully supports the satyagraha launched by BC Welfare Association National President R. Krishnaiah. The protest demands 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in upcoming local body elections.

Kavitha released a statement on social media, accusing the state government of lacking sincerity on the issue. She said the government passed bills in the Assembly and Council but failed to ensure their implementation. “The state has not made use of constitutional or political opportunities to achieve 42% reservations,” she remarked.

The MLC criticized the leadership for avoiding concrete steps. She pointed out that no all-party delegation was taken to the Prime Minister. She added that the government did not even request an appointment, meet the Governor for an ordinance, or fight legally when the Centre stalled BC bills.

Kavitha warned of consequences if elections are conducted without granting 42% BC reservations. She said the BC community is ready to teach both the state government and the Congress party a “fitting lesson” in the polls.

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka travelled to Delhi on Sunday for legal consultations regarding local body elections. The visit comes after the High Court asked the state to complete the polls by September 30.

Officials said both leaders will meet senior legal experts in the capital. Their discussions will cover the demand for 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local polls. They also plan to review the pending BC reservation bill with the President and push for the ordinance that still awaits the Governor’s approval.

BRS leaders, however, criticized the trip. They alleged that Revanth and Vikramarka are not only holding legal talks but also planning to meet the Congress high command. They claimed the discussions may extend to the disqualification of defected MLAs and party-related issues.

The CM and Deputy CM are expected to consult senior Supreme Court lawyers during their stay. Their focus will be on finding legal options to safeguard the BC quota and ensure the elections take place smoothly within the court’s deadline.
