Party leaders argue that Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Rights Yatra has re-energized the cadre and could swing results in these key constituencies. They believe fair coordination with RJD and other alliance partners could strengthen their prospects. In 2020, Congress contested 70 seats but managed victory in only 19, while in 2015 it had a stronger strike rate, winning 27 out of 41. This record has prompted Congress to demand at least 27 “sure-shot” seats again.

The RJD, however, insists that its strength lies in 92 constituencies, as it had won 75 and came close in 17 more during 2020. The tug-of-war highlights the challenge of balancing seat-sharing so that neither party ends up with only strong or weak seats. With election fever mounting, the final seat formula could determine the alliance’s stability.
