He highlighted the need to deepen capital markets, foster innovation, and develop skilled financial talent. Setty added that SBI will actively support India’s financial growth alongside capital market participants.

Setty praised SBI’s fast responses and high-quality services, which capital market leaders widely appreciated. He said the bank will not only provide banking solutions but also help shape India’s financial future.

SBI reported a 12.5% rise in net profit to Rs 19,160 crore for Q1 FY26, compared to Rs 17,035 crore last year. Operating profit grew 15.5% to Rs 30,544 crore. Investor confidence improved as BSE-listed companies reached a combined value of Rs 465 lakh crore, near last year’s peak.

The Reserve Bank of India’s potential easing and softening inflation supported market optimism. Strong performances from PSU, auto, bank, metal, and oil & gas sectors further boosted markets. Experts predict corporate earnings may grow above 15% in FY27 due to GST reforms, improving foreign investor sentiment.

Domestic demand remains strong as consumer spending and government investment continue to rise.

National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Monday (September 22, 2025) said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should have raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood in his national address. Abdullah reminded that the demand for statehood continues to dominate public concerns in the Union Territory. He said the PM focused only on GST reforms while ignoring J&K’s key issue.

On Sunday (September 21), PM Modi spoke about the benefits of GST reforms in his address to the nation. The revised GST rates came into effect the next day. Reacting to this, Abdullah said, “You are talking about GST, but it would have been better if you had spoken about our statehood.”

Abdullah also expressed hope that the Supreme Court, which will hear petitions on J&K in October, will deliver a fair judgment. “Not just the NC, but every citizen of J&K wants statehood back,” he told reporters in Srinagar.

On other questions, Abdullah said the case of JKLF chairman Yasin Malik lies with the courts. He also reacted to the detention of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik. According to him, the legislator’s language was wrong, but booking him under PSA was an overstep. “They could have solved it through talks,” he added.

She said the new policy reflects the government’s vision of building a transparent and growth-driven economy. Kangana Ranaut stressed that the GST reforms mark a crucial step toward Viksit Bharat by empowering businesses and simplifying tax structures.

Speaking on social media, Kangana Ranaut praised the leadership for introducing reforms that focus on digital compliance, reduced paperwork, and greater ease of doing business. She highlighted that these changes will encourage entrepreneurship, boost manufacturing, and bring small traders into the formal economy.

The Centre’s next-gen GST reforms aim to improve efficiency in revenue collection, cut down on tax evasion, and strengthen cooperative federalism. According to the government, the policy will also benefit states by ensuring timely tax sharing and a more predictable revenue flow.

Kangana Ranaut, who has often voiced her views on national development, said the reforms represent India’s push toward becoming a self-reliant and globally competitive economy. MPs and party workers will visit local markets across their constituencies until September 29. They will inform citizens about reduced GST rates and promote affordable products.

The initiative coincides with GST 2.0, which introduces a two-slab tax system. GST on over 375 daily-use items has been cut. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the campaign as a “festival of savings” for all Indians.

During the campaign, MPs and party workers will conduct daily padyatras in selected markets. They will greet shopkeepers with flowers and distribute placards promoting Swadeshi and Made-in-India products. The campaign also emphasizes supporting local businesses.

The outreach aims to help the poor, middle class, MSMEs, women, and youth by lowering household expenses. MPs will submit daily reports of their activities to central and state offices. The new GST rates will simplify compliance for businesses and make essential items more affordable nationwide.

GST reforms have once again become the focus of political and economic discussions, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for keeping a constitutional promise that had remained unfulfilled for decades. Shah said that the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax was a landmark moment that redefined India’s taxation system and gave new strength to the economy.

Speaking at a public event, Amit Shah explained that before the launch of GST, India’s taxation system was complex and scattered. Different states had different tax structures, which created confusion and made it difficult for businesses to expand across state borders. According to him, GST reforms simplified the system, removed barriers, and created a single national market.

He added that GST brought transparency and reduced corruption, as every transaction became traceable in the digital framework. Compliance improved, and revenue collections rose steadily, proving the effectiveness of the reform. Shah pointed out that several governments had tried to introduce GST but failed due to lack of political will. Prime Minister Modi, he stressed, not only promised the reform but also ensured its successful implementation.

Highlighting India’s global rise, Amit Shah said that the country’s growing economy is evidence of strong policies. He linked GST reforms with India’s improved credibility among global investors, stating that a simplified tax structure has boosted investor confidence.

Shah concluded by reaffirming that Prime Minister Modi fulfilled the constitutional promise of GST reforms and paved the way for India’s economic growth. He described the reform as a symbol of Modi’s determination and vision to strengthen the nation’s financial foundation.

Indian equity markets opened on a strong note today, buoyed by optimism over the government’s newly announced GST reforms. Both benchmark indices registered gains, with the BSE Sensex crossing the historic 81,000 mark and the Nifty50 trading above 24,800.

At the opening bell, the Sensex rose by 289 points to touch 81,007.03, while the Nifty climbed 92 points to reach 24,826.05. Market experts said the positive momentum reflects investor confidence in the government’s decision to simplify the GST structure and reduce tax rates on key sectors.

Analysts noted that the reforms, which cut down the number of tax slabs and lowered rates on essentials and services, are expected to boost consumption and support corporate earnings in the coming quarters. Sectors like banking, FMCG, and automobiles led the rally, while IT stocks also showed steady buying interest.

Global cues also played a supportive role. Asian markets traded firm despite lingering concerns over global tariffs and currency fluctuations. With foreign investors showing renewed interest, Indian equities are expected to maintain their upward trajectory in the short term.

Market strategists, however, cautioned that while GST reforms have created immediate bullish sentiment, sustained growth will depend on earnings data and macroeconomic stability in the coming months.

For now, the surge in stock indices has given markets a festive boost, setting the tone for what traders hope will be a strong September series.
