A new study has raised serious concerns about uranium in breast milk Bihar. The research looked at lactating women in six districts and found traces of uranium (U-238) in their breast milk. Scientists say this issue needs urgent attention because uranium in breast milk Bihar can affect both newborns and mothers.

Breast milk is the most important food for babies. It protects them from infections and helps their physical and mental growth. Doctors always advise mothers to breastfeed for at least six months. But the recent findings from Bihar have created fear among many families.

Researchers from AIIMS Delhi and Mahavir Cancer Institute studied 40 women from Bhojpur, Begusarai, Samastipur, Khagaria, Katihar, and Nalanda. They believe the contamination comes from groundwater containing uranium. When women drink this water, the harmful metal enters their bodies and reaches breast milk.

Experts say more research is needed because the sample size is small. Bihar’s health department has assured people that it is working on the issue. Doctors also say mothers should not stop breastfeeding unless a doctor advises it. Most uranium leaves the body through urine, so the risk may not be as high as people fear.

A dengue outbreak has hit Pakistan’s Panjgur district, affecting men, women, and children, local media reported on Sunday. The virus is spreading quickly, especially in Khudabadan and Chitkan areas. Residents have expressed serious concern about their health and safety.

Lawmakers and locals criticized the district health authorities for weak preventive measures and insufficient healthcare facilities. Social workers said anti-mosquito campaigns have been largely symbolic, and the district lacks a dedicated dengue control unit. Panjgur, with about one million residents, has no effective system to fight dengue.

National Party leader Rahmat Saleh Baloch urged the provincial government, WHO, and UNICEF to send medical teams immediately. He also requested declaring Panjgur a dengue-affected district, launching fumigation campaigns, and improving hospital facilities. Civil society groups called for a dedicated dengue treatment unit at Panjgur Hospital.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa authorities declared a Chikungunya outbreak in Peshawar’s Sufaid Dheri area after 16 cases were detected. The cases appeared in zones with high dengue incidence. Health officials confirmed they are taking prompt action to contain the viral fever and protect residents.

The Coldrif Cough Syrup ban in Uttar Pradesh followed the tragic death of 14 children in Madhya Pradesh. Authorities linked the syrup, produced by Shreesan Pharmaceutical, to kidney failure and other severe reactions among children in Chhindwara.

The state government moved quickly to protect public health. Drug inspectors will collect syrup samples from both government and private hospitals. These samples will be tested in a Lucknow laboratory to confirm their safety. Meanwhile, the government has stopped the sale, import, and export of the syrup until further notice.

Officials said the Coldrif Cough Syrup ban is a preventive step to avoid further harm. They added that the move will also help strengthen public trust in drug safety.

Soon after the incident, protests broke out in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Congress workers demonstrated in Bhopal and Jaipur, demanding the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla. They blamed the government for failing to regulate harmful medicines.

In Jaipur, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers staged protests outside Kaysons Pharma. Party leader Amit Dadhich urged authorities to shut the company down, citing corruption and negligence. He accused officials of allowing fake medicines to reach the market and endanger children’s lives.

Furthermore, health officials in Uttar Pradesh assured that strict drug testing and company monitoring would continue. The Coldrif Cough Syrup ban sends a clear message about accountability and the need for higher safety standards in India’s pharmaceutical industry.
