In 2024, Sharma completed three major marathons: the Comrades Marathon (South Africa), Silk Route Ultra in Ladakh, and Jaisalmer Ultra Marathon. He is the only civil servant to finish the 122 km Silk Route Ultra at high altitude. Sharma has also participated in numerous 10K runs, half-marathons, and ultra-marathons across India.

Sharma’s fitness journey began during his first year of engineering, addressing Meniere’s disease through jogging. Over time, he gained mental focus, stress relief, and physical fitness. Joining a running group in 2022 under coach Girish Bindra, Sharma gradually progressed from 10 km runs to endurance sports, eventually mastering swimming, cycling, and long-distance running.

Balancing work and training, Sharma adheres to strict routines, combining running, cycling, swimming, strength training, recovery, and nutrition. His achievements include the Comrades Marathon (86 km), Silk Route Ultra (122 km), Border Run (161 km), Mumbai Marathon, Ladakh Marathon, and several sea swimathons and cycling events, inspiring fitness and endurance across the nation.

Ayurveda Day was designated as September 23 by the Ministry of Ayush to create a uniform calendar identity. Earlier, the day varied annually, being observed on Dhanteras. This year’s theme is “Ayurveda for People & Planet,” promoting harmony between individuals and the environment.

Jadhav shared that India’s traditional medicine sector has expanded nearly eightfold in the last decade. The manufacturing sector revenue grew from Rs 21,697 crore in 2014-15 to over Rs 1.37 lakh crore, while the services sector generated Rs 1.67 lakh crore. Exports of AYUSH and herbal products reached $1.54 billion across 150 countries.

The 10th Ayurveda Day main event will be held at the All-India Institute of Ayurveda in Goa. Key initiatives include a nationwide health checkup campaign, DRAVYA Portal for Ayurvedic ingredient data, and new integrated oncology and healthcare facilities in collaboration with Goa Government, AIIA, and Tata Memorial Center. Nationwide and global outreach events are planned to strengthen India’s leadership in holistic health systems.
