The sunstroke deaths in Telugu states came as temperatures crossed 45 degrees Celsius in several areas. Strong hot winds and dry weather made conditions worse for elderly people, children, and outdoor workers. Unofficial reports suggest that nearly 200 to 300 people may have died from heat-related illnesses in both states during the past week.

The India Meteorological Department warned that high temperatures may continue for the next few days. Health officials advised people to avoid going outside between 11 am and 4 pm unless necessary. Doctors also suggested drinking plenty of water, buttermilk, coconut water, and ORS to stay hydrated.
