Several vehicles were buried under debris, and farms were severely damaged. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), the heavy rainfall in Himachal village also disrupted daily life across the state.

In Gutrahan village of Namhol area, gushing waters swept through agricultural lands. Kashmir Singh, a local villager, said the debris and water destroyed large portions of fertile land. Farmers expressed fear of losing their entire harvest this season.

Meanwhile, Shimla woke up to thick fog, reducing visibility to just a few metres. School children and commuters faced inconvenience on the roads. The local Met office issued a yellow alert, warning of heavy rainfall in isolated parts of the state over the weekend.

The damage extended to infrastructure as well. Officials confirmed that 503 roads, including major highways like Attari-Leh (NH-3), remained blocked. In addition, 953 power transformers and 336 water supply schemes were disrupted.

Since June 20, Himachal has recorded 386 deaths due to rain-related incidents and accidents. Losses have reached ₹4,465 crore. Meteorological data shows the state received 967.2 mm rainfall—43% above normal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a ₹1,500-crore relief package for Himachal Pradesh, which has been reeling under widespread destruction caused by heavy rains, landslides, and flash floods. The package aims to support immediate relief, rehabilitation, and long-term rebuilding efforts in the hill state.

During a review meeting with state officials in Shimla, PM Modi said the Centre stands firmly with the people of Himachal at this hour of crisis. He emphasized that the financial assistance would be released in phases to ensure effective use for restoring damaged infrastructure, homes, and livelihoods.

According to preliminary state government estimates, over 200 people have lost their lives in the disaster, while thousands have been displaced. Key sectors such as agriculture, horticulture, roads, and tourism have suffered significant losses. Large stretches of highways remain blocked, hampering connectivity to remote areas.

The relief package will cover rebuilding of critical road networks, repair of bridges, restoration of power supply, and assistance to families who lost homes. Special focus will also be given to farmers and apple growers, who are among the worst-affected communities.

PM Modi directed central agencies, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Border Roads Organisation (BRO), to work in close coordination with the Himachal government. He also stressed the need for long-term disaster preparedness, including early warning systems and slope stabilization projects to mitigate future risks.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu thanked the Prime Minister for the prompt support, saying the aid would provide much-needed relief to the people and accelerate recovery. With the festive season approaching, the state hopes to restore normalcy at the earliest.

During his visit, he will be accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The duo will review the ongoing relief operations and engage with the affected residents to understand their needs.

Earlier, Kejriwal announced that Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Delhi unit president of AAP, will be arriving in Punjab with essential relief supplies. In addition, every day, AAP leaders, MLAs, MPs, and citizens from Delhi will send trucks carrying relief materials to Punjab. Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) and traders are also offering support in various ways to assist those impacted by the floods.

Kejriwal expressed gratitude for the widespread help, stating that people from all over the country are contributing to the relief efforts. “Today, the entire nation stands with Punjab,” he said.

Furthermore, AAP MLAs and MPs are donating one month’s salary to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to aid the flood victims.

The ongoing floods in Punjab have been caused by the rising waters of the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers, as well as seasonal rivulets, following heavy rains in their catchment areas in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
