Telangana Health Minister Damodara Rajanarsimha announced that the state is committed to creating more opportunities for nurses. He said that around 7,000 nursing posts were filled last year, and recruitment for another 2,322 posts is currently underway.

On Monday, the Health Department signed an agreement with the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU). The initiative will train nursing students in German and Japanese languages, making them eligible for overseas job opportunities. The minister emphasized that skilled nurses from Telangana lose jobs abroad only due to language barriers.

He explained that under the program, nursing students will receive two years of training in German and Japanese, both virtually and in person. EFLU will also provide certificates upon completion, which will help nurses secure well-paying jobs abroad. Rajanarsimha stressed that this step will benefit families financially and socially.

The minister added that demand for nurses has increased in hospitals and home care services. Interest in nursing courses has also grown among students and parents. To meet the rising demand, the government has already established 16 nursing colleges and plans to open two more soon.
