India strongly criticized Pakistan at the United Nations, calling it “the fountainhead of terror, violence, bigotry, intolerance, and extremism.” Revolutionary Socialist Party MP N.K. Premachandran told the UN General Assembly’s Fourth Committee that Pakistan must stop human rights violations in the regions of Kashmir it illegally occupies.

Premachandran highlighted Pakistan’s repression in occupied Kashmir and condemned the killing of 26 civilians in Pahalgam by terrorists trained and supported by Islamabad. He said the people in Pakistan-occupied areas are protesting against military occupation, exploitation, and brutality. Recent clashes have left more than 12 civilians dead during demonstrations for basic rights.

Responding to Pakistan’s remarks on Kashmir, Premachandran said it was ironic for a country known for terrorism and military rule to question the world’s largest democracy. He urged Pakistan to stop “preaching” at international forums while continuing its state-sponsored extremism and oppression.

Reaffirming India’s stance, he declared Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India. Premachandran also reminded the UN of India’s leadership in global decolonisation efforts, helping over 80 colonies gain independence while emphasizing that the process remains unfinished.

The party alleged that women and other members have faced severe physical and mental abuse in prisons. False cases have also been filed against many leaders at all levels.

The Awami League claimed that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and other party activists are being unjustly detained. Some leaders have reportedly been killed through torture in prisons, while inhumane abuse continues. The party called these actions extreme and barbaric.

The party accused the interim government of using fabricated cases to harass Awami League members across the country. Prison transfers and humiliating treatment have been allegedly used to maximize suffering and intimidate activists. The statement called the practices shocking and unacceptable.

Awami League has urged international organisations and human rights defenders to demand transparent investigations into custodial deaths. Since the Yunus-led government came to power, at least 24 party members reportedly died in custody. The party stressed the need for accountability and justice for victims and their families.

A 14-page United Nations report has revealed shocking details about the extent of repression in North Korea. Based on testimonies from over 300 defectors and victims , the report highlights how the regime has tightened control over every aspect of citizens’ lives, especially since the introduction of harsh laws and policies in 2015.

According to the findings, surveillance has been expanded nationwide, with severe restrictions on personal freedoms . The report states that even minor acts, such as sharing foreign movies or South Korean dramas (K-dramas), have led to executions. Many people were reportedly killed for allegedly spreading “outside cultural influence,” considered a threat to the regime’s authority.

The revelations underscore the regime’s determination to isolate its citizens from the outside world, maintaining an iron grip through fear and violence. The UN has called for greater international scrutiny, warning that such systemic abuses amount to serious human rights violations.
