The incident happened in villages of the Dighalbank block near the Nepal border. A herd of elephants stayed in maize fields for several days and later moved toward nearby homes. During the night, one elephant broke the wall of a villager’s house and destroyed stored food grains. Family members quickly escaped and avoided injury.

Villagers said elephants also damaged crops and houses in nearby settlements, increasing fear in the area. Many residents now stay alert at night because the animals often move toward villages after dark. Wild elephants havoc in Kishanganj has forced some families to remain awake and guard their homes.

Forest officials said teams will monitor the herd and help keep people safe. Authorities also advised villagers to use preventive measures to keep elephants away from residential areas.
