India has sent 10,000 doses of rabies vaccine and 2,000 vials of rabies immunoglobulin to Timor-Leste to support its health response. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said this aid reflects India’s role as a reliable “First Responder” to the Global South.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India remains committed to assisting partner nations in times of crisis. He highlighted that the consignment will help Timor-Leste combat a recent rabies outbreak, reinforcing India’s commitment to global health cooperation and solidarity.

India and Timor-Leste share long-standing ties rooted in democracy and diversity. India was among the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Timor-Leste after its independence in 2002. Recently, Timor-Leste became the 11th member of ASEAN, marking a historic step in regional integration and cooperation.

President Droupadi Murmu earlier reaffirmed India’s partnership with Timor-Leste, promising collaboration in technology, agriculture, and healthcare. Timor-Leste’s leadership expressed gratitude for India’s support and backed India’s bid for a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council, strengthening their growing diplomatic bond.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto denied the allegation, saying Zelensky is “losing himself in anti-Hungarian sentiments” and chasing imaginary threats. The minister called the claims baseless in a statement posted on Facebook.

Relations between Budapest and Kyiv have been tense for years. Hungary has raised concerns over the rights of the ethnic Hungarian minority in Ukraine and criticised attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline, vital for its energy supplies from Russia. Hungary also opposes Ukraine’s EU accession due to minority protections and impacts on the EU’s agricultural subsidy system.

Despite political disputes, Hungary has provided humanitarian support since the Ukraine conflict began in February 2022.

CGC University in Mohali steps up to help flood victims in Punjab through its Great NavBharat Mission Foundation. Recent devastating floods have displaced thousands of families, destroying homes, livelihoods, and access to healthcare. The university mobilizes resources and volunteers to deliver urgent aid right away.

Hon’ble Founder Chancellor S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal flags off the initiative with great enthusiasm. Teams load buses with ration kits, medical supplies, and essentials, then head to the hardest-hit areas. The first phase targets districts like Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur, Talwandi Hindua, Dharmabad, Khanna Chamyara, Mahal Nangal, Gola Dhola, Rattarh Chhatarh, Mansoor, and Patti Abdaal.

Students and faculty volunteers drive this mission with passion and dedication. They distribute aid directly to families, restoring hope and dignity amid the crisis. Dhaliwal shares, “Our humble efforts show our shared humanity and commitment to Punjab. We unite as one family in tough times to serve our community.”

This relief effort goes beyond handouts—it embodies CGC University’s focus on holistic education and social responsibility. The foundation pledges ongoing support for recovery and rehabilitation. Collective action like this rebuilds lives and boosts Punjab’s resilience. As floods subside, the university stands firm with its people, proving education inspires real-world change.

During his visit, he will be accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The duo will review the ongoing relief operations and engage with the affected residents to understand their needs.

Earlier, Kejriwal announced that Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Delhi unit president of AAP, will be arriving in Punjab with essential relief supplies. In addition, every day, AAP leaders, MLAs, MPs, and citizens from Delhi will send trucks carrying relief materials to Punjab. Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) and traders are also offering support in various ways to assist those impacted by the floods.

Kejriwal expressed gratitude for the widespread help, stating that people from all over the country are contributing to the relief efforts. “Today, the entire nation stands with Punjab,” he said.

Furthermore, AAP MLAs and MPs are donating one month’s salary to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to aid the flood victims.

The ongoing floods in Punjab have been caused by the rising waters of the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers, as well as seasonal rivulets, following heavy rains in their catchment areas in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
