With the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election set for November 11, political activity has intensified across the upscale Hyderabad constituency. Residents are seizing the opportunity to raise grievances and highlight civic issues before the candidates — Naveen Yadav (Congress), Sunita Gopinath (BRS), and Deepak Reddy (BJP).

During corner meetings, locals from Erragadda and Shaikpet expressed dissatisfaction over poor infrastructure, damaged roads, sewage overflow, and frequent flooding. Residents complained that despite being a prime area, several colonies remain neglected while nearby localities enjoy better development.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy led BJP’s door-to-door campaign in Rahmathnagar and Om Nagar, urging voters to support Deepak Reddy. The Congress, supported by AIMIM, deployed Mohammad Azharuddin and Shabbir Ali to reach Muslim-dominated areas. Meanwhile, BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and Mohammed Saleem hit the ground to rally for Sunita Gopinath. AIMIM’s support for Congress is being viewed as a key game changer.

Ahead of polling, the Jubilee Hills Constituency Colonies Forum — representing over 300 colonies — announced plans to collectively decide their preferred candidate. President Mohammed Asif Hussain Sohail said the forum will prioritize community welfare, performance, and transparency in leadership.

Hyderabad: Land values in Hyderabad have reached record-breaking levels, surpassing even diamond rates. In Raidurg, one acre of land has been sold for an astonishing ₹177 crore — the highest in the country. Back in 2017, the same land was priced at ₹42.59 crore per acre, marking a phenomenal increase of ₹134.41 crore in just eight years.

The surge highlights Hyderabad’s booming real estate market, particularly in prime IT and commercial hubs like Raidurg. With infrastructure growth, tech expansions, and investor interest driving demand, both land and building prices have soared to unprecedented heights.

However, experts warn that such skyrocketing rates make home ownership increasingly unattainable for middle-class families, turning the dream of owning a house in the city into a distant reality. The trend underscores Hyderabad’s rapid urbanization and its growing status as a real estate powerhouse in India.

Hyderabad witnessed severe downpours overnight, leaving the city submerged and disrupting normal life. The relentless rainfall turned major roads into river-like stretches , while vehicles appeared to float like boats, creating scenes of chaos across the metropolis.

Areas such as Begumpet, Serilingampally, LB Nagar, Qutbullapur, Tolichowki, and Old City were among the worst affected. Traffic came to a standstill for hours, with vehicles stranded for kilometers, causing immense inconvenience to commuters.

The intensity of the rain overwhelmed drainage systems, leading to widespread waterlogging. In several places, police personnel worked tirelessly throughout the night, manually clearing vehicles and assisting residents in navigating flooded areas.

The downpour sparked concerns over the city’s infrastructure and flood preparedness, as authorities scrambled to manage the crisis. Citizens expressed frustration over recurring monsoon woes, with many calling for urgent measures to address Hyderabad’s persistent urban flooding challenges.
