According to an affidavit submitted to the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Additional Chief Administrator Rakesh Popli stated that violators were found breaching the Punjab Regional and Town Planning and Development Act, the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act, and the Punjab New Capital Periphery Act. GMADA highlighted that such unchecked constructions pose risks to planned urban growth.

Earlier, GMADA carried out demolition drives in Karoran, Perch, Soenk, Mullanopur, Garibadss, Padol, and Nada villages. These actions were aimed at curbing the rising trend of unauthorized colonies and structures mushrooming across the periphery of Mohali.

The authority has also warned that further non-compliance could lead to demolition of illegal structures. By issuing notices and conducting demolition drives, GMADA seeks to maintain sustainable development in the region while ensuring strict adherence to planning laws.
