At the same time, YSR’s son, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, broke away from the Congress. He launched the YSR Congress Party and began a statewide outreach. His campaigns drew massive crowds and quickly turned him into a serious political force.

Within a few years, Congress lost its dominance in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. New parties filled the space and rewrote electoral equations.
