Smoke and small flames appeared from beneath the S-5 sleeper coach of the train while it was travelling from Patna to Purnia Court.

Passengers noticed the smoke first and raised an alarm. As the smoke increased, several people quickly got down from the train and moved away in fear. The sudden Kosi Express fire scare caused chaos near Budhma station on the Madhepura–Purnia railway section.

Railway staff stopped the train after receiving the alert from passengers. Officials said the problem started due to a brake-binding issue under the coach, which produced smoke and sparks. Railway workers and local residents helped control the situation.

After railway staff checked and repaired the coach, the train resumed its journey. Authorities confirmed that no passenger suffered serious injuries in the incident.

Rajesh Kumar Singh, the station house officer of Gaya rail police station, was arrested late at night near the railway SP office. Police later produced him in court, which sent him to jail.

The incident took place on November 21 on the Howrah–Jodhpur Express. A passenger carrying gold as a courier alleged that officials stopped him during a train check and took away about one kilogram of gold. The value of the seized gold is estimated at over ₹1.4 crore.

Following the complaint, senior officials formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The probe revealed the alleged involvement of the GRP station chief along with four railway policemen and two civilians. Police have already named all accused in the case.

Investigators are now searching for the remaining suspects. Railway police officers say the investigation is moving fast and strict action will be taken against everyone involved.

The Howrah–Jodhpur Express gold snatching case has raised serious questions about passenger safety and corruption within railway security. Authorities have assured passengers that such crimes will not be tolerated.

The derailment happened late Saturday night near Telwa Halt when a cement-loaded goods train jumped the tracks. The Jamui freight train accident blocked both lines and stopped train movement on this key route.

Railway engineers and emergency teams rushed to the spot soon after the crash. Crews removed damaged wagons and started repair work on the tracks. Despite continuous efforts, passenger train movement has not returned to normal.

The disruption has forced the railways to cancel several express and passenger trains. Authorities diverted many long-distance services through alternate routes via Dhanbad, Gaya, and Pradhankhunta. Local MEMU and passenger trains faced short terminations, adding to commuter problems.

Passengers stranded at stations complained about long waits and lack of clear updates. Railway officials said safety checks are the top priority before resuming full operations. They added that services will restart only after track repairs and inspections are complete.

Until then, travelers are advised to check train status before starting their journey.

The Vande Bharat Express Muzaffarpur–Delhi route may start operations soon, bringing faster and more comfortable travel for passengers from North Bihar. The Railway Minister has given a positive update on the proposal, raising hopes among daily and long-distance travelers.

The Vande Bharat Express Muzaffarpur–Delhi will connect Muzaffarpur directly with the national capital using modern semi-high-speed technology. At present, trains on this route take nearly 18 to 20 hours. The new service is expected to reduce travel time by several hours, making journeys smoother and more convenient.

Union Minister and Muzaffarpur MP Raj Bhushan Choudhary recently met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to request the new train. During the meeting, the Railway Minister assured that the demand is under serious consideration. Railway officials have started internal discussions on scheduling, route feasibility, and technical readiness.

This train will offer advanced facilities such as comfortable seating, improved safety systems, automatic doors, and better onboard services. It will also help business travelers, students, and migrant workers who frequently travel between Bihar and Delhi.

Once launched, the train will strengthen rail connectivity in North Bihar and boost regional development. Passengers now await the official timetable and launch date announcement.
