]]> Telangana has recorded a historic decline in the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), according to the Sample Registration System Report 2023. The report shows that India’s overall IMR fell from 40 (2013) to 25 (2023). Telangana, however, outperformed the national average with an IMR of just 18.

In rural areas of Telangana, the IMR dropped from 44 to 28, while in urban regions it declined from 27 to 18. Former state minister Harish Rao highlighted this achievement in a post on social media platform X, describing it as a remarkable 52% reduction since 2011–13.

He credited the success to former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao’s (KCR) foresight, noting that initiatives like KCR Kits, Nutrition Kits, Amma Odi vehicles, and other mother-and-child welfare schemes played a vital role in saving thousands of lives . Rao added that while others made empty promises, KCR’s policies delivered results, showcasing the “true Telangana model.”
