A major income tax operation created a stir in Rajasthan on Wednesday after the Income Tax Department conducted raids on the popular Kanha Restaurant group. The action began early morning and covered 33 locations linked to the group across six cities in Rajasthan and one location in Mumbai.

According to official sources, teams from the Investigation Wing reached the premises around 7 am. Despite bad weather and rainfall in some areas, officials moved quickly and launched the operation without delay. The raids targeted business establishments and residential premises connected to the restaurant’s promoters.

Officials said the Kanha Group had been under surveillance for a long time due to suspected tax evasion. After preliminary verification, the department planned a coordinated operation. The searches covered 26 locations in Jaipur, two in Udaipur, and one each in Kota, Sri Ganganagar, Karauli, and Hindaun. One related premise in Mumbai was also searched simultaneously.

During the operation, officials examined financial documents, computer hard disks, digital records, and bank account details. A large security force supported the teams to ensure smooth proceedings. The department has not yet disclosed findings. Officials said further action will depend on the outcome of document verification.

The Rajasthan Education Department has issued a notice to Jaipur’s Neerja Modi School following the death of a Class 4 student, Amayra. The department warned that the school’s recognition and No Objection Certificate could be withdrawn if its response proves unsatisfactory.

A committee led by District Education Officer (Elementary) Ramniwas Sharma conducted an inquiry into the incident. The investigation report was submitted to senior officials and the education minister. Based on the findings, the department served a formal notice to the school.

The school has been given seven days to submit its reply. Officials stated that strict action will follow if the explanation fails to address safety concerns. The notice clearly mentions possible cancellation of the school’s NOC and derecognition.

The inquiry report highlighted serious lapses in student safety. Investigators found an inadequate number of security guards and support staff on campus. The report also noted that the accident site was washed with water, raising questions about administrative conduct.

Further findings revealed structural safety issues. The school’s five-storey D-Block lacked iron grills above stair railings. Open areas on the ground floor had no protective netting. Investigators also observed the absence of guards or helpers on each floor to monitor young students.

The department described these shortcomings as grave negligence and stressed that child safety remains non-negotiable.

Rajasthan air pollution worsens as toxic air spreads across nearly 20 cities, raising serious public health concerns. New data from the Central Pollution Control Board shows air quality levels slipping from poor to very poor in several regions.

Industrial hub Bhiwadi has emerged as the most polluted city in the state. On Saturday morning, its Air Quality Index touched 304, placing it in the very poor category. Though it later dipped slightly, the risk remains high. Factories near the Haryana border continue to pump harmful emissions into the air.

Major cities now struggle for clean air. Jaipur recorded an AQI of 207, while Alwar stood at 231 and Churu at 284. Dausa, Sri Ganganagar, and Kota also reported unhealthy levels. Even tourist destinations like Udaipur and Mount Abu showed worrying readings.

Health experts warn that prolonged exposure may trigger breathing issues, fatigue, and headaches. Children, elderly people, and those with asthma face higher risks.

Officials link the pollution spike to industrial smoke, rising vehicle numbers, and seasonal weather changes. Environmentalists urge quick action, including stricter factory checks, road sprinkling, and plantation drives.

If ignored, Rajasthan could soon face pollution conditions similar to Delhi. Public awareness and swift government steps remain critical.

Jaipur: December 2025 brings good news for schoolchildren in Rajasthan as schools will remain closed for a total of 12 days during the month. The long break includes winter vacation, an educational conference, and regular Sunday holidays, leaving only 19 working days in schools.

The most awaited winter vacation will run from 25 December to 5 January, during which schools will remain completely closed. Families across the state have already started planning holiday trips, making the winter break even more exciting for students.

Apart from the winter vacation, schools will also remain closed on 19 and 20 December due to the scheduled educational conference. As 21 December falls on a Sunday, students will get a continuous 3-day break right before the winter vacation begins.

Additionally, regular Sunday holidays on 7 December and 14 December add to the overall count of non-working days for students.

Jaipur: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has firmly rejected the application submitted by Buildcon Consultant Limited seeking the removal of a seal placed on unauthorized construction at Manglam Radiance on Tonk Road. The disputed structure, located on the 12th floor of Tower A, includes a room and bathroom built on the common terrace—an area not designated for private construction under the approved building plan.

JDA officials also pointed out that the window of flat 1201 had been altered into a full entry gate providing access to the sealed portion, further strengthening the case of deliberate encroachment. A notice for removal of the illegal construction was issued on 20 December 2023, and following non-compliance, the structure was officially sealed on 3 August 2024 under directives from the Urban Development Department.

The builder argued that the construction was a temporary setup intended for “plantation activities,” a claim JDA termed baseless and misleading. Accepting such a request, authorities noted, would effectively create private ownership over a common terrace, violating the rights of other residents.

Urban development experts say this decisive stand sends a strong message for future cases. They emphasize strict monitoring after any future unsealing to ensure adherence to building norms and to prevent misuse of common spaces in high-rise residential complexes.

Jaipur: The Youth Dialogue programme organised in the Rajasthan Assembly on Constitution Day witnessed tense moments as a heated verbal exchange erupted between Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel and Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Jully. What began as a discussion soon escalated into political confrontation, turning the session into a display of sharp accusations from both sides.

Participants from the ruling party and the opposition traded pointed remarks, prompting Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani to intervene. Emphasising the importance of democratic values, he said, “The beauty of the Constitution is that it gives everyone the right to speak. It is eternal and indestructible.” His comment came during ongoing discussions around the SIR issue.

Jully accused the ruling party of suppressing Congress workers’ voices, warning that any manipulation of votes under SIR would damage the Constitution. Countering this, Patel questioned Jully’s assertions and pointed to events during the Emergency and past presidential elections, alleging that those criticising the Constitution today had themselves undermined it earlier.

Amid the political sparring, Speaker Devnani inaugurated the Vande Mataram Gallery in the Assembly’s digital museum, claimed to be the first such feature in any state legislature. He urged the youth to study the Constitution with national interest as their guiding principle.

As a result, athletes are compelled to train in the adjacent regular pool, where water temperatures have dropped to 15–20°C, far below ideal levels for winter training. All-weather pools are designed to maintain warm and stable conditions throughout the year, but the facility continues to stay locked without any official explanation.

A similar scenario prevails at Chougan Stadium, where the all-weather pool also remains unused, leaving swimmers with no choice but to brave the cold.

Ironically, while these state-of-the-art pools lie idle, various sporting activities took place nearby. Multiple swimming competitions were organised today, with former minister Lalchand Kataria and Sports Secretary Neeraj Pawan presenting medals to the winners.

As part of the Khelo India initiative, the Cycling Federation of India conducted a cycling event where Meenakshi clinched first place in the women’s category. She was felicitated by Cooperation Minister Gautam Kumar Dak. Rajasthan Cycling Federation members Sarika Chaudhary and Gajendra Chaudhary, both associated with the BJP, also honoured the minister during the event.

The Jaipur RTO has launched a major crackdown on nearly 30,000 e-rickshaws operating without valid fitness certificates. RTO Jaipur–I officer Rajendra Singh Shekhawat said the vehicles registered under RJ-14 EQR and S series have expired certificates, prompting urgent enforcement action.

Around 20,000 owners have already received notices, while warnings are being sent to the remaining 10,000. The department has suspended registrations of 5,000 e-rickshaws, and warned that the registrations of the remaining 25,000 will also be suspended if operators fail to renew their fitness certificates by December 15.

The surge in unregulated e-rickshaws was also discussed at Monday’s Traffic Control Board meeting, where officials raised concerns about safety risks, congestion, and violation of transport rules.

The RTO has urged owners to complete fitness renewal immediately to avoid registration suspension and penalties. The crackdown is expected to enhance traffic discipline and road safety across Jaipur.
