]]> On April 10, 1995, Tamil Nadu witnessed a rare political flashpoint involving the state Governor. Governor M. Channa Reddy was travelling from Raj Bhavan to Pondicherry when his convoy was stopped near Tindivanam. Members of the ruling AIADMK allegedly pelted eggs and stones at the convoy, raising serious concerns.

The protesters were reportedly led by S.S. Panneerselvam, then a district party secretary. They opposed Governor Reddy’s interaction with Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy, who had sought legal action against Chief Minister Jayalalithaa over corruption allegations. The convoy remained halted for over 15 minutes at a major junction.

Governor Reddy contacted the district police chief and instructed officials to clear the road. Police later stated that eggs and stones were thrown but did not hit the vehicles. The incident occurred amid known tensions between the Governor and the Jayalalithaa-led government.

The Governor later sent a report to the Centre, alleging political interference and police support for the protest. Jayalalithaa rejected the claims and urged the President and Prime Minister to recall the Governor, accusing him of bias and misreporting state affairs.
