The campaign for the Jubilee Hills by-election officially ends this evening at 6 p.m. The election follows the sudden demise of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. As the race enters its final hours, the BRS, Congress, and BJP are making their last push to win the high-profile seat. Polling will take place on Tuesday, November 11, and officials are now completing the final arrangements.

A total of 58 candidates are in the fray — three from major parties, 26 from registered ones, and 29 independents. The constituency has 4.01 lakh voters, and authorities have set up 407 polling stations. On average, each station will serve about 986 voters. Historically, voter turnout in Jubilee Hills has remained below 50 percent. Therefore, election authorities have launched awareness programs to encourage greater participation.

Among the 4,01,365 voters, there are 123 NRIs, 18 service voters, 1,908 persons with disabilities, 6,859 new voters, and 2,134 senior citizens above 85 years. For this election, officials plan to deploy 2,442 ballot units, 569 control units, and 610 VVPATs.

Vote counting will take place at Kotha Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium in Yousufguda, where preparations are in full swing. Meanwhile, top leaders from all three major parties have set up base in the area. Congress CM Revanth Reddy, BJP leaders Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, and BRS leaders K.T.R. and Harish Rao have led intense campaigns. They have held corner meetings, made promises, and exchanged sharp criticisms, turning Jubilee Hills into the center of Telangana’s political heat.

The Jubilee Hills by-election has grown beyond a local contest, emerging as a reflection of Telangana’s shifting political future. The bypoll, triggered by Maganti Gopinath’s sudden demise, has turned into a crucial test for the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS. Sympathy votes, minority influence, and urban mood are shaping this election into a symbolic political battleground rather than just a race for one seat.

Since becoming a constituency in 2008, Jubilee Hills has displayed diverse voting behavior. In previous polls, voters supported different parties in assembly, parliament, and GHMC elections. While Congress banks on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s local influence and MIM’s silent support, BRS is relying on regional sentiment and anti-incumbency. BJP’s limited campaign presence has reduced its chances.

Local caste equations, minority votes, and urban elites’ indifference have added complexity. The TDP’s neutral stance has created uncertainty among its traditional supporters. Analysts believe the main fight remains between Congress and BRS.

Though this victory may be temporary, its impact could be far-reaching. A Congress win may boost government morale, while a BRS revival could energize its cadre and reshape Telangana’s political balance.

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) expressed confidence that his party would secure a clear victory in the Jubilee Hills by-election. Speaking at a meeting in Hyderabad on Tuesday, he said people are angry with the Congress government’s anti-people policies over the last 22 months.

KTR noted that BRS had developed Hyderabad into Telangana’s economic hub during its decade in power. He said Congress’ policies, in contrast, have weakened the city and damaged its growth. According to him, residents believe only BRS can restore stability and continue Hyderabad’s progress.

The BRS leader accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of creating fear and instability that collapsed Hyderabad’s economic system. He added that every community has suffered because of the Congress administration’s failures. “If development must continue, people know BRS should return to power,” KTR remarked.

Senior leaders discussed by-election strategies during the meeting. KTR urged party leaders and cadres to unite and campaign vigorously. He said Jubilee Hills should mark the restart of BRS’ winning journey and demonstrate the people’s trust in the party.
