A division bench of Justices Rajiv Ranjan Prasad and Saurendra Pandey imposed a fine of ₹25,000 on the applicant. The court directed that the amount must be deposited with the Patna High Court Legal Services Committee within one month.

The applicant wanted the court to reconsider its previous order regarding a land dispute. However, the court found that the applicant could not even establish whether the land was public land. The judges observed that the petition was both frivolous and vexatious.
By repeatedly insisting that the earlier Division Bench order was wrong—without any proof—the applicant had wasted judicial time. Therefore, the review petition was dismissed and costs were imposed.

In a separate case, the Patna High Court ruled that withholding benefits during maternity leave is illegal. The court directed TM Bhagalpur University to pay an assistant professor her withheld salary and service benefits, stating that denial of maternity rights violates the Maternity Benefit Act.

The decision comes after police registered an FIR and suspended the licences of two accused lawyers. The Association warned that any member who appears in court during the strike will face immediate expulsion from membership.

The Executive Committee will meet today at 11:00 p.m. to decide the next steps. Leaders of the Association urged members to follow the strike call and stand united.

“All members must strictly follow the decision. Any violation will lead to strict action,” the Association said.

In case of emergencies, lawyers have been asked to contact the Bar Association office. The strike is expected to disrupt proceedings in the Punjab & Haryana High Court for the day.
