The notification for the village panchayat elections has been released, and election activities have intensified across rural areas. Officials have been placed on alert as the poll schedule has been announced. Aspirants have begun gathering support by meeting followers and strengthening their local groups ahead of nominations.

Reservation lists have been confirmed, prompting several aspirants to field their spouses to enter the race. Senior leaders and local representatives are being approached for support. Voters are also being contacted actively as young leaders prepare to contest for the opportunity to gain public service experience and local authority.

Political activity in the Kamareddy revenue division has increased sharply with the start of the nomination process. Many aspirants, who have waited for years to contest, are now making strategic moves to secure the sarpanch position. Caste equations have become a key factor as candidates seek unity among community groups.

Evening meetings in villages have become common as aspirants negotiate, offer incentives, and convince community leaders. Some candidates are prepared to spend heavily, even pledging property, to secure the “Sarpanch Saab” title. Villagers expect intense political changes as the withdrawal deadline nears.

Telangana Minister Seethakka confirmed that local body elections will be held using the old reservation pattern. She said the notification may be released before December 11. The Gram Panchayat elections will be conducted first, followed by MPTC and ZPTC polls. She stated that timely elections are important to prevent the loss of central funds expected in March.

The minister added that the reservation structure from the previous government will continue. She said 27% reservation will apply as per government norms. The party will follow 42% reservation in its internal structure. She explained that the government wants a smooth election process without delays or disputes.

Seethakka announced that Indiramma sarees will be delivered door-to-door. She said the sarees are being provided to support women directly. A foundation stone for a shopping complex was laid at Bhikkanur Market Yard. Seethakka criticised the BRS for spreading misleading claims online. Sarees were later distributed at the event.

A villager complained about pending bills under the Indiramma Housing Scheme. Seethakka instructed officials to clear the issue immediately. Senior district officials attended the programme. The minister said the government remains committed to welfare schemes and transparent administration.

Illegal ganja sales are rising sharply across Kamareddy district. Once confined to towns, the drug’s use has now spread to rural areas. Dealers are targeting young people by adopting a new method — filling ganja inside cigarettes and selling them discreetly. With the railway route and National Highway-44 passing through the district, Kamareddy has become a major hub for the trade. Locals allege that sales are thriving through small pan shops and grocery stores.

The trend of packing ganja inside cigarettes has made it difficult for authorities to detect. Regular customers are sold these cigarettes secretly, while new buyers are often turned away to avoid suspicion. Residents claim that the unchecked trade continues due to the lack of vigilance from police and excise officials.

The drug culture has now reached villages, where youth are increasingly getting addicted. Many young people are damaging their health despite awareness campaigns. Parents’ lack of supervision has worsened the problem, pushing more youth into drug abuse.

Locals are demanding that police and excise departments intensify surveillance and launch strict operations. Many fear Kamareddy may soon become a regional hub for organized drug trade if immediate action is not taken.

For the past two days, several districts have received moderate to heavy showers. The weather turned intense on Wednesday afternoon, as rain lashed 11 districts along with Hyderabad city until late night.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the system will remain active today as well. Within the next two hours, thunderstorm activity with lightning and gusty winds is expected in Kamareddy, Siricilla, Medak, Nizamabad, Nirmal, and Sangareddy districts. Residents in these areas have been urged to remain cautious during the storm period.

Further south, districts like Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Vikarabad are also likely to witness moderate to heavy showers later in the day. The IMD cautioned that intense spells of rain may lead to waterlogging in low-lying regions.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad is likely to remain dry for the next two to three hours. However, officials said that thunderstorms could develop over the city by afternoon. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel accordingly as weather conditions may deteriorate by evening.
