]]> In the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, one name stands out — Kayamuddin Ansari, known as Bihar’s poorest election candidate. While many contestants boast assets worth lakhs and crores, Ansari owns only ₹37,000. He has no home, no land, and no vehicle — just ₹20,000 in cash and ₹17,000 in his two bank accounts.

Ansari, representing the Grand Alliance on a CPI (ML) ticket from the Ara Assembly seat, believes that people’s support matters more than money. In his affidavit, he declared no movable or immovable property. However, his wife owns gold and silver worth around ₹6 lakh combined.

Despite past defeats, Ansari remains determined. He lost the 2020 election to BJP’s Amarendra Pratap Singh by 3,000 votes. Yet, CPI (ML) has again trusted him for 2025, where he faces BJP’s Sanjay Singh Tiger. Ansari says that while others rely on wealth, he depends on public trust and honesty.
