During an inspection on October 3, officials found 1,780 Pregabalin 300 mg capsules and 570 Tapentadol tablets worth ₹67,720 at the Zira shop. The owner failed to provide purchase bills. As a result, the team sealed the shop immediately. Later, Zonal Licensing Authority Lakhwant Singh cancelled its licence after reviewing the violations.

Additionally, another medical store in Lakho Ke Behram lost its licence under the Drugs Act. This action, officials say, reflects the government’s commitment to strict enforcement.

Drug Control Officer Sonia Gupta stated that the department will now conduct inspections more frequently. She warned shop owners to follow regulations, adding that the government will act firmly against any attempt to sell medicines illegally.

Moreover, she highlighted that Punjab follows a zero-tolerance policy toward drug abuse. The administration aims to protect public health by stopping the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs and ensuring that only authorised sellers operate in the market.
