Tej Pratap Targets Tejashwi After Bihar Election Setback

The Bihar RJD family rift grew deeper after the 2025 Bihar Assembly results. The RJD, once the largest party in the Grand Alliance, won only 25 seats. Tejashwi Yadav kept his seat, but the party’s fall created strong tension inside the Lalu family. The Bihar RJD family rift became more visible when Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, walked away from politics and her family. She accused Tejashwi’s close aides, Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Nemat, of mistreating her.

Tej Pratap Yadav attacked Tejashwi again. He said that if he had toured the state for 20 days, the RJD would have dropped to only five seats. He claimed that the people of Bihar no longer trust the party because it has moved away from Lalu Prasad Yadav’s values.

Tej Pratap added that he never expelled anyone. He said he was pushed out by his own people. He stated that Bihar now wants leaders who stand with truth, not sycophants.

The Grand Alliance also faced a huge loss, winning only 35 seats. Congress won 6, CPI-ML won 2, IPP won 1, CPI(M) won 1, and VPI won none.

Grand Alliance Seat-Sharing Standoff Deepens

With the October 17 deadline nearing, the Bihar Assembly elections seat-sharing issue has become a hot topic. The Grand Alliance, led by RJD, is struggling to finalize its seat-sharing plan with Congress, while the NDA has already confirmed its strategy. RJD is ready to offer Congress 55 seats, but Congress wants 60. Talks between Tejashwi Yadav, KC Venugopal, and Krishna Allavaru are continuing.

Congress has shortlisted over 90 candidates but awaits an agreement. Meanwhile, RJD’s Lalu Prasad Yadav has distributed some party symbols, though a formal list is pending. The NDA has divided 101 seats each for BJP and JD(U), 29 for LJP (Ram Vilas), and 6 each for HAM and RLM. The first voting phase is on November 6 and the second on November 11. Results will be out on November 14.

As the Bihar Assembly elections seat-sharing battle continues, both alliances race against time to finalize candidates.

The Bihar Election 2005 turned into a historic political drama. Nitish Kumar’s growing popularity challenged Lalu Prasad’s dominance, but no party secured a majority. The February 2005 election, the first after Jharkhand’s creation, reduced Bihar’s assembly strength to 243. The results produced a hung assembly—RJD won 75 seats, JD(U) 55, BJP 37, Congress 10, Independents 17, while Ram Vilas Paswan’s LJP surprised many with 29 seats.

Despite forming the second-largest bloc, the JD(U)-BJP alliance could not stake claim as LJP refused to support either side. Political instability deepened, and newly elected MLAs could not even take oath before the assembly was dissolved. Senior leaders rushed to Delhi, where crucial meetings were held at George Fernandes’ residence to find a way forward.

The deadlock forced the imposition of President’s Rule. Reports suggest President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was displeased and even considered resignation, but Prime Minister Manmohan Singh convinced him to stay.

The crisis eventually led to fresh elections later that year. This second poll shifted Bihar’s political landscape, paving the way for Nitish Kumar’s rise and ending Lalu Prasad’s long dominance. The Bihar Election 2005 remains a defining chapter in the state’s political history.
