The hearing came after the Rouse Avenue Court delayed its earlier order on framing charges against Lalu Prasad Yadav, his family members, and other accused. The CBI informed the judge that 103 people are accused, and four have died. Many documents are still pending, so the agency asked for more time.

During the December 8 hearing, the CBI requested time to verify the status of several accused. The judge had earlier asked the agency to file a detailed report. The CBI also filed charge sheets against Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav, and others.

According to the prosecution, Group D railway jobs in the West Central Zone were given in exchange for land transferred to Lalu Prasad’s family during 2004–2009. They claim the deals involved benami properties and broke several rules.

The accused denied these charges and said the case is politically motivated.
