In a shocking incident in the national capital, a woman allegedly kidnapped a newborn baby from a hospital in Rohini in an attempt to prove her second marriage to her lover. Swift action by Delhi Police led to the rescue of the infant within hours and the arrest of two accused.

The incident occurred at Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, where a woman had recently given birth and was recovering in the maternity ward. According to police, the accused woman had been visiting the ward for a few days and had developed a friendly rapport with the newborn’s mother. She allegedly gained the family’s trust by offering assistance in caring for the baby.

On the morning of the incident, the accused reportedly took the newborn in her arms under the pretext of helping the exhausted mother rest. When the family later realised that both the woman and the baby were missing, hospital authorities and police were immediately informed. A kidnapping case was registered, and multiple teams were deployed to trace the suspect.

Investigators examined CCTV footage from the hospital and nearby areas and used technical surveillance to track the accused. The newborn was eventually located and rescued safely from an area near the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Police arrested the main accused along with her associate and reunited the infant with the parents.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman allegedly kidnapped the baby to convince her lover that she had given birth, in order to validate her second marriage. Authorities are now probing the case further to determine whether the act was pre-planned or if more individuals were involved.

Police confirmed that the baby is safe and further investigation is ongoing.

He stepped in after C.P. Radhakrishnan resigned from the post following his election as Vice President of India.

Devavrat took oath and officially assumed his new role. At 66, he has already completed five years as Gujarat Governor, a position he has held since July 22, 2019. Known as a strong supporter of natural farming, he has led awareness campaigns across Gujarat and several other states.

Between August 2015 and July 2019, he served as Governor of Himachal Pradesh. During that tenure, he promoted natural agriculture, cow protection, breed improvement, social harmony, water conservation, and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao program. He also encouraged afforestation and anti-addiction drives.

As Chancellor of Gujarat’s 24 state universities, he has played a key role in education. His appointment as Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapeeth in October 2022 sparked debate. Now, with the Maharashtra role, Devavrat is expected to balance responsibilities in both states while continuing his work in governance and social causes.

The Income Tax Department confirmed that September 15 is the last day to file income tax returns (ITR) for the 2024-25 financial year without penalty. Social media posts had claimed that the deadline was moved to September 30, creating confusion among taxpayers.

Officials quickly dismissed those claims. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the department stated that it had already extended the deadline once, from July 31 to September 15. They made it clear that no further extension exists.

The department urged people to ignore fake news and follow only official announcements. To support taxpayers, it opened a 24×7 help desk for questions on ITR filing and tax payments. Officials advised everyone to complete their returns before midnight on September 15 to avoid penalties.

Tax experts also warned against last-minute delays. Heavy traffic on the filing portal may slow the process and create problems. The department assured that its systems are fully functional and encouraged taxpayers to file early rather than rely on unverified social media updates.
