The Rajasthan government has finalised a new formula for panchayat and local body elections across the state. The Panchayati Raj Department has issued district-wise guidelines to all collectors. These rules will govern ward formation in over 14,000 gram panchayats, 450 panchayat samitis, and 41 district councils.

The move follows a court directive that requires local body elections to conclude by April 15. Officials will soon begin ward delimitation under the revised population-based norms.

Under the new formula, a gram panchayat with a population of 3,000 will have seven wards. Authorities will add two more wards for every additional 1,000 people. This means a village with 4,000 residents will have nine wards.

For panchayat samitis, 15 wards will apply to populations up to one lakh. Every extra 15,000 residents will add two wards. District councils will start with 17 wards for four lakh people, with two more wards for each additional lakh.

Jaipur district now has 596 gram panchayats after recent restructuring. Meanwhile, distance-related disputes have emerged in some regions. Villagers in parts of Nagaur report travelling up to 60 kilometres to reach panchayat offices.

He asked them to take public issues to senior officials for quick solutions. Later, he honoured the winning sarpanches, deputy sarpanches, and ward members in Husnabad. He also said polling in Elkathurthi and Bhimadevarapalli ended peacefully.

He noted that Gandhian village self-rule becomes possible only when problems receive immediate attention. The minister explained that the first phase of Indiramma housing had begun and that the next phase would start soon. He added that eligible families would receive 200 units of free power. Moreover, he promised new ration cards and regular fine-rice supply. He recalled that Husnabad stood as an example in plastic-free initiatives through steel bank distribution.

Ponnam said Congress secured 15 seats in Bhimadevarapalli and 11 in Elkathurthi. He reminded people about upcoming polling in several mandals this month. If Congress wins, he said development would accelerate, particularly through the completion of the Gouravelli project. He mentioned ongoing welfare schemes like Kalyana Lakshmi, free bus travel, zero-interest loans, Rythu Bharosa, and loan waivers.

He highlighted major development works in Husnabad, including an engineering college, a residential school, a four-lane road, a 250-bed hospital, and heritage projects. He also initiated steps to allocate ₹100 crore for Satavahana University. Soon, new sarpanches will receive training on village development planning.

The first phase of the Telangana Sarpanch Elections ended today, and the vote counting began soon after polling closed. Early trends show tight contests in several villages. In a few places, the margin remained extremely narrow, which increased tension among candidates and supporters.

In Mahabubabad district, Jatoth Harichand, backed by the BRS, secured a win in Chinya Thanda by just nine votes. Similarly, in Jagtial district, Megawat Latha, also supported by the BRS, won in Thimmapur with a margin of twelve votes. These close results highlight the intense competition seen across many villages.

Officials initially planned elections for 4,236 gram panchayats in the first phase. However, 395 sarpanch posts were filled unanimously before polling day. Therefore, voters cast ballots today in 3,834 gram panchayats, and the turnout remained strong across the state.

As counting continues, political parties are closely watching the numbers. These results will shape local governance and grassroots leadership for the next term. The close contests also reflect the heightened political activity in rural Telangana, especially with major parties trying to retain or expand their influence.

State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini reviewed the arrangements in Hyderabad and explained the polling schedule. She added that the deputy sarpanch election will also take place on the same day.

Kumudini noted that voting will occur in 3,834 villages and 27,628 wards. Moreover, the Commission strengthened field monitoring to ensure smooth polling. Police increased inspections across the state and seized ₹8.2 crore during their checks. Additionally, they set up check-posts along the state borders to prevent illegal movement of cash and goods.

The Bihar Panchayat Elections 2026 are drawing major attention across the state. People are talking about the Bihar Panchayat Elections 2026 because these polls will bring many important changes. For the first time, EVMs will be used in Panchayat voting. The State Election Commission has already started preparing for this upgrade. Multi-post EVMs will allow voters to choose candidates for different posts at the same time.

A new reservation roster will also be prepared. Due to this, seats for posts like Zila Parishad, Mukhiyas, Panchayat Samiti, Sarpanch, Panch, and Ward Members may change. As per rules, reserved seats can shift after two terms. Because of this, many current Panchayat representatives may have to contest from new areas.

Banka district alone has thousands of seats, and half of them are reserved for women. This shows how important representation is in local bodies. The tenure of current Panchayats will end in November 2026, and the process for new reservations will begin soon.

Officials say the three-tier Panchayat system plays a key role in village development. With delimitation and new EVMs, this election will mark a major shift in Bihar’s rural governance.

The GHMC 300 wards expansion is set to reshape Hyderabad’s civic system. Officials confirmed that the GHMC 300 wards expansion will improve local governance and make public services reach people faster.

The city is growing quickly, and more wards will help the administration plan better for roads, drainage, sanitation, and public utilities. Residents will get stronger representation because each ward will have its own elected leader who will handle complaints and development works.

With more wards, officials can allocate resources more accurately. Projects such as road repairs, streetlights, water supply, and cleanliness drives will receive closer monitoring. Citizens will also find it easier to contact their local representatives.

Experts believe this move will strengthen grassroots democracy. More wards mean more participation in local elections and more accountability from leaders. It also supports Hyderabad’s expanding population and widening urban limits.

Authorities will soon release the new ward boundaries and publish the full list before elections. Citizens are encouraged to stay updated and take part in local governance to ensure their neighbourhoods get the services they need.
