The Indian Air Force carried out the operation using specialised aircraft equipped for aerial firefighting. Officials said the water was released over critical fire zones identified by ground teams.

In a post on X, the IAF said a dedicated team of Air Warriors was deployed at the urgent request of civic authorities. The operation followed heightened alert levels after a recent plane crash at Baramati Airport, which prompted wider coordination among emergency agencies.

The IAF said its personnel acted swiftly despite challenging terrain and weather conditions in the Lohit Valley region. Dense forests and limited road access have made ground-based firefighting difficult.

Local authorities said the aerial support helped slow the spread of the fire and protect sensitive forest areas. Fire control teams on the ground continued containment and cooling operations.

Officials said monitoring will continue over the next few days to prevent flare-ups. The State government has urged residents to remain cautious and report any signs of fresh fires.

The IAF said it remains ready to provide assistance for disaster response whenever required.
