Some ruling party MLAs claimed that interfaith marriages and alleged inducements have led to forced conversions. They pointed to states like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, where strict anti-conversion laws are already in place.

However, a senior minister clarified that the government has not yet prepared any formal proposal. The Assembly ended the discussion after brief remarks from both sides.
