Indore News: The deaths linked to contaminated drinking water in Indore have sparked an intense political confrontation. The BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government faces mounting pressure over disputed death figures. Congress has announced a justice march to demand accountability and relief for affected families.

Congress leaders said Rahul Gandhi is likely to join the proposed Nyay Yatra on January 11. The party claims the administration failed to act despite early warning signs. Leaders accuse the government of avoiding clear answers on fatalities and responsibility.

Indore, often ranked India’s cleanest city, now faces global attention for alleged water contamination deaths. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said every death is tragic. Rahul Gandhi, however, insists the issue demands accountability, not sympathy.

Gandhi recalled similar interventions during farmer deaths and the Hathras tragedy. He said leaders must stand with victims, not dismiss questions. On social media, he blamed the BJP’s “double engine” government for administrative negligence.

The controversy deepened after minister Kailash Vijayvargiya called reporters’ questions “unnecessary.” He later apologised amid backlash. Congress leaders say such remarks reflect arrogance toward grieving families.

Official records submitted to the High Court cite eight deaths. Media reports, however, claim compensation reached 18 families. This discrepancy has raised serious questions. The High Court has criticised the government’s handling of data.

Authorities say a death audit is underway. Final figures will emerge after medical board findings. Until then, political tension in Indore continues to rise.

Indore Water Crisis Rahul Gandhi has intensified political heat in Madhya Pradesh after deaths linked to contaminated drinking water. The Congress leader attacked the BJP government and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the issue.

In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said Indore did not receive water but poison. He accused the administration of remaining asleep while families mourned loved ones. He said poor residents suffered most and deserved accountability, not arrogance from leaders. He questioned why repeated complaints about foul-smelling water went unheard.

Rahul Gandhi asked how sewage entered drinking water pipelines and why officials failed to stop supply in time. He demanded action against responsible officers and leaders. He said clean water is a right, not charity, and accused the BJP’s “double-engine” government of killing that right through negligence. He linked the incident to other governance failures in Madhya Pradesh.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also criticised the BJP. He questioned claims of the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Kharge said people in India’s “cleanest city” still lack safe water. He accused the government of hollow promises and corruption.

The BJP has not issued a detailed response yet. Meanwhile, the Indore water contamination case continues to trigger outrage and political confrontation.

Wrong Ward Election MP has embarrassed the administration in Khargone district after a bypoll was held in the wrong ward. The incident occurred in Maheshwar Janpad Panchayat, where officials conducted an election in Ward 9 instead of the vacant Ward 7.

The seat in Ward 7 fell vacant after the sudden death of member Mohan Makwale. As per rules, authorities had to conduct a by-election there on December 15. However, officials mistakenly informed the district election office that Ward 9 was vacant. Based on this information, the election process moved ahead in the wrong ward.

The entire procedure took place in Ward 9. BJP backed Ajay Singh Baria, who filed the only nomination. Officials rejected a second nomination due to time limits. Authorities declared Baria elected unopposed, and supporters celebrated his victory.

Just before the official declaration on December 16, officials noticed the mistake. The administration immediately cancelled the election. District Panchayat CEO Akash Singh suspended two employees for negligence. The suspended officials include assistant grade-3 Ajay Verma and block-level officer Ramlal Barsena.

Baria expressed disappointment over the decision. He said officials accepted his form for Ward 7 and issued receipts accordingly. He appealed to the Election Commission to recognise his unopposed win.

Officials admitted the clerical error and announced a fresh election process.

Amit Shah Gwalior Roads have become the centre of fresh political debate after several damaged stretches were repaired overnight. The repairs happened just before Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the city. Gwalior’s poor road conditions had earlier drawn national attention, especially after monsoon-related cave-ins.

Amit Shah visited Gwalior on December 25 to inaugurate the Abhyudaya Madhya Pradesh Growth Summit. He also laid foundation stones for industrial projects worth ₹2 lakh crore. Ahead of the VVIP visit, the district administration and municipal corporation resurfaced selected roads. These routes were part of the Home Minister’s convoy movement.

Residents say the administration acted with unusual speed. They claim officials earlier cited lack of funds when people demanded road repairs. Locals now question how money appeared overnight. Many allege the work quality is poor and may not last long.

Several citizens shared images and videos on social media. They accused authorities of applying double standards. According to them, roads ignored for months were fixed within hours for a leader’s visit. Some residents also reported uneven layers and unfinished edges.

Local resident Chaturbhuj Dhanaulia said the roads were badly damaged earlier. He claimed officials denied funds at that time. He alleged the new surface is of substandard quality. He demanded strict action against contractors involved in poor construction.

The issue has triggered wider questions on accountability and public spending priorities.

Free Ration Reaches 5.25 Crore People in Madhya Pradesh under the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput presented a detailed two-year report card on Thursday.

The minister said the state distributed free food grain worth nearly ₹22,800 crore over the last two years. More than 5.25 crore beneficiaries received support through this scheme. He said the initiative strengthened food security for poor and vulnerable families.

Rajput highlighted the success of the One Nation One Ration Card system. Around 39,000 families from other states receive free ration in Madhya Pradesh every month. Nearly 16 lakh families benefit from inter-district portability each month.

The government also focused on reaching remote regions. Under the “Aapka Ration, Aapke Dwar” scheme, officials deliver ration directly to homes in 89 tribal and inaccessible villages.

He said the department increased transparency using technology. Beneficiaries now receive SMS alerts about ration arrival and distribution. Gram Sabhas read beneficiary lists on January 26 and October 2.

Rajput said e-KYC verification improved rapidly. The state verified over 4.97 crore beneficiaries, covering 93 percent of the total. The department paid ₹51,000 crore to 28 lakh farmers for crop procurement in two years.

Indore AB Road renamed as Atal Bihari Marg following a major decision by the Indore Municipal Corporation. The announcement came on Thursday to mark the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava confirmed that the decision was taken unanimously during a Mayor-in-Council meeting. The road, officially known as Agra-Bombay Road, is one of the city’s most important traffic corridors.

The mayor said the move honours Vajpayee’s lasting contribution to national development. He highlighted Vajpayee’s role in strengthening infrastructure and connecting rural roads with major highways. According to civic officials, the renaming reflects respect for his vision and leadership.

The Indore Municipal Corporation also clarified that it will approach the central government. The civic body plans to formally request naming the national highway after Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the national level.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The central government observes his birth anniversary as Good Governance Day across India.

Officials said the decision symbolises gratitude from Indore’s citizens. The renaming aims to preserve Vajpayee’s legacy for future generations. The Indore AB Road renamed decision has received positive reactions from political leaders and residents alike.

The MP farmer loan waiver has triggered a fresh political confrontation in Madhya Pradesh after a BJP minister questioned its credibility. State minister Vishwas Sarang claimed the Congress-led government waived loans of “fake farmers” during Kamal Nath’s 15-month tenure.

Sarang said the decision weakened cooperative banks across the state. He added that the current Mohan Yadav government is working to restore their financial health. According to him, the damage happened due to irresponsible policies of the previous regime.

Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath responded sharply and rejected the allegations. He released a district-wise list of beneficiaries and challenged the BJP’s claims. Nath said nearly 27 lakh farmers received loan waivers worth ₹11,646.96 crore in two phases.

He asked whether the BJP considers all these farmers fake. Nath demanded that Sarang apologise to farmers and the people of the state. He said loan waiver was his first decision after taking office in 2018.

Nath added that the Congress came to power largely due to this promise. He claimed the BJP toppled his government to stop further relief to farmers. He also accused the BJP of failing to deliver on MSP promises.

The renewed debate has pushed the MP farmer loan waiver back into the political spotlight. The issue continues to divide the ruling party and the opposition ahead of future elections.

Madhya Pradesh achieved a major internal security milestone after a year-long, focused campaign against Maoists. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav declared the state Maoist-free on December 11, 2025. The operation targeted Maoist groups active in Balaghat, Mandla, and Dindori districts.

Maoists had moved into Madhya Pradesh while facing pressure in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. Their activities drew attention after they acquired looted AK-47, INSAS, and SLR rifles and appointed hardened commanders. In 2024, a Hawk Force officer suffered a critical head injury during an encounter, which intensified operations.

Security agencies first mapped Maoist networks using intelligence from surrendered cadres in other states. Since Maoists avoided mobile phones, forces deployed heat-sensor drones and UAVs to track forest movements. Authorities then choked financial lifelines by digitising tendu leaf payments. Officials linked payments to Jan Dhan accounts with e-KYC, blocking extortion routes.

Police also engaged villagers across nearly 70 sensitive villages. Officers held meetings, stayed in hamlets for months, and explained how Maoists blocked development. Public anger against extortion weakened rebel support.

Operations peaked after key surrenders in November. A nine-day final operation involving 1,200 personnel led to the last cadres laying down arms. Officials confirmed the complete collapse of Maoist presence in the state.

The sharp drop in temperatures has already claimed one life in Tikamgarh. An elderly man died after severe exposure to cold, officials confirmed.

In the last 24 hours, Rajgarh and Pachmarhi emerged as the coldest locations. Both recorded a minimum temperature of 5.4 degrees Celsius. Kalyanpur in Shahdol followed closely at 5.8 degrees. Bhopal also reported a biting cold with similar readings.

Indore recorded a minimum temperature of 6.6 degrees, while Umaria touched 7 degrees. Amarkantak stood at 7.4 degrees. Gwalior, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Rewa, and Sagar also witnessed chilly nights.

Dense fog has worsened conditions in several regions. Visibility dropped below 50 metres in Rewa and Satna, disrupting road traffic. The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning for very dense fog on Tuesday.

Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Sidhi, Rewa, Satna, and Chhatarpur remain on high alert. Datia, Panna, Tikamgarh, and Niwari may also face severe fog. Authorities have advised residents to stay cautious and limit travel during early hours.
