The Nagpur incident has triggered grief and anger in Bihar after six labourers from the state lost their lives in a tragic factory accident in Maharashtra. The accident took place at a private industrial unit in Butibori MIDC near Nagpur on Friday morning. Workers were carrying out routine work when disaster struck.

According to reports, a large overhead water tank collapsed during testing. The heavy structure fell suddenly and crushed several workers standing below. The Nagpur incident claimed six lives on the spot, while a few others suffered serious injuries.

Two of the deceased labourers belonged to Karja village in Muzaffarpur district. News of their deaths spread quickly, plunging the village into mourning. Family members and neighbours gathered at their homes to console the grieving relatives.

Police, fire brigade teams, and disaster response units rushed to the site soon after the accident. Rescue workers removed debris and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals.

Local officials have started an investigation to find the cause of the collapse. Questions are being raised about safety checks and working conditions at the factory. The tragedy has renewed demands for stricter safety rules to protect migrant workers.

In a significant development, the Maharashtra–Madhya Pradesh–Chhattisgarh (MMC) Special Zonal Committee of Naxalites has issued a press note indicating their willingness to lay down arms and join government rehabilitation schemes. The statement, signed by spokesperson Anant, is addressed to the Chief Ministers of all three states.

Anant states that several top Maoist leaders, including Central Committee members Sonu and Chandranna, have already supported the decision to suspend armed struggle due to changing national and global circumstances. He added that the remaining members in the forests also believe the movement cannot continue for long.

The committee has requested time till February 15, 2026, to formally take a collective decision, citing communication limitations within their organisation. They assured the government that the request has no hidden motive.

The press note also urges state governments to temporarily halt security operations, including during the upcoming PLGA Week, so that both sides can create a peaceful environment for dialogue. The Naxal spokesperson said the group will suspend all activities and expressed confidence that the outcome will be “positive and favourable” for the government.
