The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) General Headquarters has rolled out the Students’ Aid Fund 2025, a dedicated initiative aimed at supporting economically weaker Mizo students who struggle to continue their education due to financial constraints. The new guidelines, officially adopted under Executive Committee Sitting No. 647 (Resolution No. 8), reflect the student body’s commitment to ensuring that no deserving learner is forced to drop out because of economic hardship.

According to the MZP, the Students’ Aid Fund 2025 seeks to create a structured support system for Mizo students studying within and outside the state. The fund will provide financial assistance to those facing difficulties in paying tuition fees, examination charges, accommodation expenses and other essential educational costs. By standardising the application and selection process, the organisation hopes to make the assistance more transparent, accessible and impactful.

MZP leaders emphasised that the new guidelines were designed after extensive consultations with student groups, educational institutions and community stakeholders. The committee stated that the fund is not merely a financial aid mechanism but a long-term investment in the youth of Mizoram, encouraging them to pursue academic excellence without fear of economic barriers.

The Students’ Aid Fund will be supported through voluntary contributions, donations from well-wishers and fund-raising activities carried out by various MZP branches. The organisation urged the Mizo community, including alumni and civil society groups, to extend support for the initiative to ensure a wider reach and greater stability.

With rising educational expenses across the country, the MZP believes that the Students’ Aid Fund 2025 will play a crucial role in safeguarding the academic future of hundreds of Mizo students. The organisation has also announced that detailed application procedures and eligibility criteria will be released soon on its official platforms, ensuring timely support for students ahead of the new academic year.

Telangana’s higher education reform model has gained notable appreciation from the Government of Mizoram after the Director of Higher & Technical Education, Siva Gopal Reddy, held a detailed interaction with Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) Chairman, Prof. V. Balakista Reddy, on Monday. The meeting focused on understanding Telangana’s comprehensive and innovative education transformation strategy, which has been acclaimed for being data-driven, skill-oriented, and globally competitive.

During the discussion, the TGCHE Chairman presented an extensive overview of various academic reforms currently being implemented across the state. These included curriculum restructuring at the undergraduate level, integration of employability-based subjects, and the introduction of the “English Algorithm” — a communication development model designed to enhance language proficiency among students. The state has also prioritized research excellence through national and international collaborations, ushering in new research-focused initiatives such as the Telangana Journal of Higher Education.

Moreover, Telangana has made internships mandatory for students in order to strengthen real-world exposure and industry linkage. Reforms in governance, accountability, digital education, and the expansion of skill-based programs aligned with emerging market demands are also progressing rapidly. These measures are aimed at building a future-ready education ecosystem aligned with global standards.

Expressing admiration, Mizoram’s education official highlighted that Telangana’s approach reflects disciplined planning, evidence-based implementation, and strong policy fundamentals. He further stated that Mizoram intends to explore collaborative opportunities and consider Telangana’s model as a reference for strengthening its higher education delivery framework, particularly in areas of digital learning, Centres of Excellence, and quality assurance systems.
