During his two-day visit to Bhutan, Prime Minister <strong data-start="794" data-end="811">Narendra Modi</strong> met <strong data-start="816" data-end="854">His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck</strong>, the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, and appreciated his lifelong contribution to nurturing Indo-Bhutan relations.</p>
<p data-start="961" data-end="1297">After the meeting, the Prime Minister shared on social media that he had a “wonderful discussion” with His Majesty and lauded the King’s efforts in strengthening cooperation between the two nations. Mr. Modi also emphasized that India and Bhutan share a deep cultural, historical, and spiritual bond built on mutual trust and respect.</p>
<p data-start="1299" data-end="1561">The two leaders discussed a wide range of topics, including <strong data-start="1359" data-end="1415">energy, trade, technology, defence, and connectivity</strong>. Mr. Modi praised Bhutan’s progress on the <strong data-start="1459" data-end="1495">Gelephu Mindfulness City Project</strong>, calling it a model that complements India’s <em data-start="1541" data-end="1558">Act East Policy</em>.</p>
<p data-start="1563" data-end="1776">In addition, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the <strong data-start="1612" data-end="1651">Punatsangchhu-II Hydropower Project</strong> with King <strong data-start="1662" data-end="1696">Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck</strong>, highlighting India’s commitment to regional sustainability and clean energy.</p>
<p data-start="1778" data-end="2074">Mr. Modi described the Fourth King as “a confluence of wisdom, courage, and simplicity” who played a decisive role in modernizing Bhutan and introducing the concept of <strong data-start="1946" data-end="1974">Gross National Happiness</strong>. He also conveyed best wishes for the King’s health and long life on behalf of the Indian people.</p>
