After the meeting, the Prime Minister shared on social media that he had a “wonderful discussion” with His Majesty and lauded the King’s efforts in strengthening cooperation between the two nations. Mr. Modi also emphasized that India and Bhutan share a deep cultural, historical, and spiritual bond built on mutual trust and respect.

The two leaders discussed a wide range of topics, including energy, trade, technology, defence, and connectivity. Mr. Modi praised Bhutan’s progress on the Gelephu Mindfulness City Project, calling it a model that complements India’s Act East Policy.

In addition, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Punatsangchhu-II Hydropower Project with King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, highlighting India’s commitment to regional sustainability and clean energy.

Mr. Modi described the Fourth King as “a confluence of wisdom, courage, and simplicity” who played a decisive role in modernizing Bhutan and introducing the concept of Gross National Happiness. He also conveyed best wishes for the King’s health and long life on behalf of the Indian people.
