Officials say the decision will support farmers who earlier faced limits in selling wheat to government centers. Because the wheat procurement target increased in Bihar, more farmers can now sell wheat through PACS and other purchase centers at the MSP of about ₹2,585 per quintal.

The state started wheat procurement on April 1. The purchase process will continue until June 15. So far, authorities have bought around 17,500 metric tons of wheat. About 3,800 farmers have sold their crops under the scheme.

Nearly 4,645 procurement centers operate across Bihar. These include PACS, trade mandals, and FCI centers. Officials say farmers will receive payments within 48 hours after selling wheat.

The higher procurement target will help farmers get fair prices and avoid selling crops to private traders at lower rates.
