Officials said the Bihar ward councillor disqualified decision came after a complaint revealed that the councillor had five children. Two of the children were born after April 2008, which violates the eligibility rule under the Bihar Municipal Act, 2007.

According to the law, candidates with more than two living children born after the cut-off date cannot contest or continue in municipal posts. Investigators also found that the councillor allegedly submitted a false affidavit while contesting the election.

The Election Commission ordered his immediate removal and directed the district administration to begin legal action for submitting incorrect information. Authorities will now start the process to hold fresh elections for the vacant ward seat.

Earlier, another councillor from Maner Nagar Parishad also lost membership in a similar case involving incorrect information about children.
