The opening ceremony was graced by Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar, who highlighted the importance of departmental sports in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and teamwork. He praised the increased participation this year and remarked that the event’s success is notable because it is “by the department and for the department,” without any external involvement. Superintendent of Police T. Relo Aye is set to attend the closing ceremony as the guest of honour.

The programme was chaired by EAC Wokha, Rechalungle, while ADC Wokha, Renbomo Ezung, delivered the welcome address. A special presentation by the Youth Resource & Sports Department and the oath administered by PIS Sedevizo Pienyü preceded the official declaration of the meet’s commencement.

Competitions began immediately, covering events like tug-of-war, penalty shoot-out, chess, carrom, table tennis, badminton, and more. Participants from different departments displayed skill, sportsmanship, and team spirit throughout the activities. Adding to the excitement, both Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar and SP T. Relo Aye participated in a friendly table tennis match, encouraging employees and fostering camaraderie among the departments.

The two-day meet aims to not only celebrate sporting excellence but also strengthen bonds among government employees while promoting a culture of health, wellness, and friendly competition across Nagaland.
