The National Health Mission Employee Association Nagaland (NEAN) has issued a strong warning to the State Government, stating that they will stop all work if their pending salaries are not cleared by December 10. NHM employees have reportedly not received their pay since September 2025.

The decision was announced following NEAN’s General Body Meeting held on November 22 in Dimapur.
In a statement, the Association said workers have reached a breaking point after years of repeated salary delays. “NHM employees have adjusted and tolerated these delays every year, but they will not accept it any longer,” NEAN said.

The Association emphasised that despite facing daily hardships, NHM staff continue to deliver essential public health services with sincerity and dedication. They stressed that salary delays should never be considered “normal,” especially for employees who manage crucial health programmes and frontline services across the State.

NEAN highlighted that even the salaries for August were released only after multiple reminders, worsening the financial stress on employees. The delay has severely impacted staff across districts and blocks, including programme managers and service delivery teams. Many workers are struggling to support their families, pay rent, meet loan obligations, and cover basic living expenses, leading to significant emotional and financial strain.

Calling NHM employees the “backbone of the Health Department,” NEAN urged the government to ensure timely and uninterrupted payment of wages. The Association also suggested that the State adopt a system of keeping two to three months’ salaries in reserve whenever funds are released by the Government of India, to prevent recurring delays.

NEAN President Dr. Thungjamo Ngullie and General Secretary Kewetso Kenye expressed hope that the government would act swiftly so that essential health services are not disrupted.
