Both leaders agreed to expand cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, renewable energy, health, education, skill development, defence, and digital technology.

The two countries signed an agreement to provide affordable, high-quality Indian medicines to Botswana’s citizens. President Murmu thanked Botswana for sending cheetahs to India as part of Project Cheetah, enhancing wildlife cooperation.

President Murmu arrived in Botswana late Tuesday for a state visit, marking the first-ever visit by an Indian head of state. She received a ceremonial welcome and guard of honour at the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport. During her stay, she will address Botswana’s National Assembly, meet the Indian community, and visit cultural and historical sites.

The visit highlights India-Botswana ties as both nations prepare to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations next year. Officials said Botswana’s Vision 2036 aims to diversify its economy, creating opportunities for Indian businesses. President Murmu came from Angola, where she attended the 50th Independence Day celebrations, addressed the National Assembly, and held talks with her Angolan counterpart.

Multiple explosions shook Kabul on Friday, raising fears of unconfirmed cross-border airstrikes. Residents reported loud blasts and the sounds of aircraft overhead in several neighbourhoods, including District 8, home to government offices and residential areas.

The blasts occurred hours after Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif warned in the National Assembly that terrorism from Afghan soil was intolerable. While Pakistan has not officially claimed responsibility, the timing of Asif’s statement fueled suspicions of deliberate military action.

In response, mobile internet services were suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, though authorities did not provide a reason. Afghan Baloch representative Mir Yar Baloch condemned the alleged strikes, calling them acts of terrorism. He argued that Pakistan’s military garrisons in Balochistan and occupied Pashtunistan threaten regional security.

Mir Yar Baloch proposed that recognition of Balochistan and Pashtunistan by Kabul could secure borders and prevent future attacks. Tensions remain high, and regional observers fear further escalation of military action and cross-border conflict.

Respondents in their 30s showed the highest concern at 64.5 per cent. Young professionals displayed strong interest in using AI to guide financial decisions, the study found.

The report also revealed 67.2 per cent were uneasy about lacking AI skills at work. Over half, 54.9 per cent, worried about the AI education boom. Experts warned users not to take AI outputs as facts. Answers may vary across different platforms, and models may carry biases. Verification is essential.

Earlier this year, South Korea announced a record 35.3 trillion won ($25.1 billion) allocation for R&D in 2026.
