Goldy Brar, whose real name is Satwinder Singh, faces serious terror-related charges. A kidnapping case involving a Chandigarh-based businessman was registered against him on January 20, 2024. The NIA took over the investigation on March 8, 2024, citing national security concerns.

Investigators also identify Goldy Brar as the key conspirator in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. The central government has already designated him a terrorist under Indian law. He is currently believed to be residing in Canada.

The NIA has booked him under multiple IPC sections. These include criminal conspiracy, extortion, criminal intimidation, and acts endangering life. Authorities have also invoked provisions of the UAPA and the Arms Act.

The court said it may order confiscation of his properties if he fails to appear. Sources say agencies have intensified extradition efforts. Officials are coordinating with Canadian authorities to bring him back to India.

The National Investigation Agency confirmed that the convict, Mohammad Kamruzzaman alias Kamruddin, worked with Pakistan-based terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen. The court found him guilty under multiple provisions of anti-terror laws. Judges also imposed a fine of ₹5,000 and an additional three months of imprisonment in default.

Investigators said Kamruzzaman actively coordinated terror plans between 2017 and 2018. He maintained contact with Hizbul Mujahideen handlers and attempted to expand the network inside India. The NIA proved that he recruited several individuals and motivated them to join terror activities.

The agency had filed a chargesheet in March 2019 against five accused. Kamruzzaman recruited Sahenwaz Alom, Saidul Alam, and Umar Farooq to assist in terror operations. The court convicted all three earlier and awarded appropriate sentences. The fifth accused, Jayanal Uddin, died during the trial due to illness.

The NIA stated that the verdict reinforces India’s zero-tolerance approach toward terrorism. Officials said the judgment sends a strong deterrent message to terror modules operating from across the border.

Based on intelligence inputs, a police team traced Islam to the Sonapur area and took him into custody. As officers prepared to leave, a pre-assembled group launched a sudden assault.

More than ten people attacked the police team, beat officers, and forcibly freed the accused. Sub-Inspector Gokul Joyshree and the police vehicle driver suffered serious injuries. Doctors admitted both to a nearby hospital.

Lakhimpur Superintendent of Police Gunendra Deka confirmed the attack was pre-planned. Police identified Atabur Rahman as the group’s leader. Arrested suspects include Afazuddin, Ikramul Hussain, Fakhruddin Ahmed, Noor Hussain, Gulzar Hussain, and others.

Along with Jyotika, four other individuals, including her brother, have been arrested for assisting in financial operations. Investigators believe the network was linked to online fraud operations spanning Mauritius, Nepal, Bangladesh, the UK, and the Middle East.

An FIR has been registered, and agencies are now probing the case from cybercrime, foreign funding, and national security perspectives. Police say more arrests are likely as the investigation deepens.
