RJD leader Rohini Acharya launched a sharp political attack after Nitish Kumar’s resignation and the formation of a new government in Bihar. Rohini Acharya attacks Nitish Kumar by claiming that his pictures disappeared from government posters within just 24 hours of stepping down.

She shared a government advertisement poster on social media and called the situation a “serious insult.” According to her, the quick removal of Nitish Kumar’s image shows that the new political arrangement has already started sidelining him.

Continuing her criticism, Rohini said that before the resignation, allies feared Nitish Kumar might change his stance, so they praised his leadership. But after he stepped down, they quickly removed his image from posters and advertisements.

She also described the situation as a “Catch-22,” suggesting Nitish Kumar now faces a difficult political position where he may lose both power and respect.

The remarks have intensified political debate in Bihar as the new government begins its tenure.

After the Nitish Kumar Resignation from the Bihar Legislative Council, senior JD(U) leader Ashok Choudhary became emotional while speaking to the media. Nitish Kumar resigned from the council as part of a political move linked to his expected entry into the Rajya Sabha.

Choudhary said he considers Nitish Kumar his political mentor and father figure. While addressing reporters, he struggled to control his emotions and said that no other leader in the country can match Nitish Kumar’s leadership and personality.

He shared several memories from the past and said he had worked closely with Nitish Kumar in the House for about 12 years. According to him, Nitish always respected colleagues and even opponents, and often helped ministers during difficult debates.

Choudhary also recalled an incident from his time as education minister when Nitish Kumar asked him to strictly stop cheating in board exams to protect Bihar’s image. He said Nitish Kumar always remained concerned about the state’s reputation and development.

He added that Bihar politics will strongly feel Nitish Kumar’s absence in the legislature, though he will continue to guide the party and the state.

The 2000 Bihar Assembly election is often recalled for Nitish Kumar’s seven-day tenure as Chief Minister. This short period became a turning point in his political career, setting the stage for his future leadership in the state. Nitish Kumar became Bihar CM for 7 days after leading the NDA alliance, but he stepped down before proving his majority in the Assembly.

Following his resignation on 10 March 2000, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi quickly regained control. The RJD, with the help of independent MLAs, proved its strength in the House, and Rabri Devi was reinstated as Chief Minister. This marked another phase of RJD dominance in Bihar politics.

The election results revealed the tense political atmosphere. NDA secured 151 seats, while RJD won 124. Despite NDA’s strong showing in the 1999 Lok Sabha polls, it could not secure a majority in the Assembly. Nitish Kumar refused to engage in horse-trading, preferring resignation over instability.

The year 2000 also witnessed Bihar’s bifurcation, with Jharkhand carved out on 15 November. This reshaped Bihar’s political and administrative structure, while Nitish Kumar’s brief CM role laid the foundation for his future rise.
