The alert was specifically about recurring payments—monthly subscriptions for apps like YouTube Premium, Google One, or other digital services. For these transactions, users need to shift from the old “@paytm” handle to new handles issued in partnership with banks such as @pthdfc, @ptaxis, @ptsbi, or @ptyes. Paytm explained that this change is part of a larger migration approved by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

The company said the deadline for updating recurring payment handles is August 31, 2025. After this date, old mandates linked to “@paytm” may fail unless updated to the new bank-linked handles. Importantly, this affects only auto-debit instructions, not regular UPI transfers.

Paytm urged customers not to panic, stressing that this is a technical update to ensure compliance and smooth functioning of recurring payments, while all other UPI services on the app remain fully operational.
