CM Yadav directed district in-charge minister Krishna Gaur to rush to the campus, interact with students, and ensure swift redressal of grievances. Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar was also instructed to conduct a detailed review of private universities across the state to safeguard student welfare. The CM stressed that food and water quality issues must be resolved without delay.

The situation deteriorated late Tuesday night as angry students vandalised property and set buses, cars and even an ambulance on fire. Over 4,000 hostel students had reportedly been facing food and water issues for months, with nearly 100 students hospitalised in Sehore, Ashta and Bhopal due to jaundice-like symptoms. While some students claimed deaths had occurred, the university administration denied the allegations.

Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar attacked the management, alleging exploitation and negligence. Meanwhile, NSUI demanded FIRs against those responsible, following which the Private University Regulatory Commission formed a three-member probe committee to submit a report in three days.

The administration has temporarily shut the university till December 8.

The Delhi High Court, ahead of the results, imposed a strict ban on victory rallies. Police, university officials, and local authorities have been directed to ensure strong security to prevent any disturbances.

This year’s election took place on Thursday across 52 centres and 195 booths with 711 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Out of 2.75 lakh eligible voters, the turnout was 39.45 percent. Twenty-one candidates contested for the four main positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary. Nine students were in the race for the President’s post.

Voting was conducted in two phases. The morning session ran from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the evening session continued from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in eight colleges.

The election process faced controversy as ABVP accused incumbent NSUI President Raunak Khatri’s supporters of violence. Both ABVP and NSUI remain confident of victory. Security arrangements have been tightened across campuses as counting begins.
