Earlier, 13 people identified in the first round of checks were moved to a central shelter home in Athagarh, Cuttack, for detailed interrogation. The newly traced individuals will undergo the same scrutiny before the administration proceeds with any action under immigration laws.

The situation escalated after police arrested Sikandar Alam, who allegedly sheltered foreign nationals illegally. Officers tracked him to Jajpur using surveillance teams and decoy operations. Investigators seized his passport and other documents to assess whether he operated a broader network that facilitated illegal settlement.

Alongside the verification drives, officials have also started clearing encroached government land. Several makeshift homes in localities such as Berhampur and Dhanipur were removed in the past week, and some occupants left voluntarily.

Jagatsinghpur now remains under tighter watch as enforcement agencies widen their investigation.
