IMD noted that the new system may strengthen as it moves across the sea. However, the department has not confirmed whether it could turn into a cyclone or which coastal districts might face strong winds or rainfall.

Forecasts suggest that the system will track west–northwest after formation. It may become a depression over the central south Bay of Bengal by November 24. Meteorologists expect further intensification over the next 48 hours as it moves into deeper waters, although IMD has not issued any local advisory yet.

Meanwhile, Odisha’s cold weather has eased slightly. Minimum temperatures may rise by 2 to 3°C across many districts in the next three days. Earlier, Jharsuguda touched 11°C and G. Udayagiri dropped to 5.4°C, marking some of the coldest points this season.

Dense fog continues in many areas, affecting morning travel. IMD is likely to give clearer guidance after the system forms and its path becomes more predictable over the next 72–96 hours.
