Pakistan sought ceasefire during the recent military standoff, India said, firmly rejecting China’s claim of having mediated between New Delhi and Islamabad. The Ministry of External Affairs has reiterated that the May 10 ceasefire followed Operation Sindoor and was achieved solely through direct military-level communication.

India clarified that the ceasefire resulted from talks between the Directors General of Military Operations of both countries. Officials stressed that there was no third-party involvement at any stage. New Delhi has consistently maintained that issues with Pakistan are bilateral and do not require external mediation.

The clarification came after Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi claimed Beijing had mediated multiple global conflicts. Speaking at an international forum, Wang said China helped ease tensions between India and Pakistan, among other disputes. He described China’s approach as neutral and focused on long-term peace.

Indian officials dismissed these remarks, calling them inaccurate. They underlined that Pakistan requested de-escalation after sustained pressure following India’s military action. The communication channel between the two DGMOs was activated directly, leading to the ceasefire understanding.

India also reiterated its long-standing position that dialogue with Pakistan can only take place in an environment free from terrorism. The government said misleading claims about mediation undermine established diplomatic facts and regional realities.

Pakistan has publicly acknowledged the impact of India’s Operation Sindoor for the first time. The admission came from Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar during a year-end press briefing.

Dar confirmed that Indian drones targeted the Noor Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi’s Chaklala area. He admitted that the strike damaged the military facility and injured personnel stationed there. His remarks marked a rare public acceptance by a senior Pakistani leader.

According to Dar, India launched multiple drones into Pakistani territory within a short span. He claimed that at least 80 drones entered Pakistan over 36 hours. Pakistan intercepted 79 of them, while one drone caused damage to the airbase.

He said Pakistan’s civil and military leadership held an emergency meeting on the night of May 9. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led the discussions to assess the evolving situation. Dar added that India carried out the Noor Khan strike on the morning of May 10.

Operation Sindoor followed the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians. Indian armed forces launched the operation to target terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Dar’s statement signals a significant moment in regional military and diplomatic discourse.
